2010 Sprints

Here is the tentative list of Feld Hell Sprints scheduled for 2010Based on member comments, we've decided that all Sprints will be two hours long - either 1600z-1800z or 2000z-2200z (except the May Dayton Sprint, which will have two 2-hour sessions.)  Sprints are held the 3rd Saturday of each month, except where a serious conflict with another test occurs.  Details for each Sprint to be posted the month before the contest.



 
January 17th
1600Z - 1800Z
The Simpsons Sprint

Bonus points for QSOs with anyone in a town named Springfield (there are 34 in the U.S. and a few in England, too!)  Also bonus points for QSOs with anyone named Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, or Maggie.



 
February 20th
2000Z - 2200Z
The Superbowl Sprint

Bonus for QSOs with any FL station (Miami is hosting the game this year) AND with hams in the two states of the two teams playing, which we won’t know until two weeks before-hand.


 
March 13th
1600Z - 1800Z
The Lewis & Clark Sprint

Bonus points for QSOs with anyone in a state through which explorers Lewis & Clark traveled beginning in March 1806 (IL, MO, KS, IA, NB, SD, ND, MT, ID, OR, WA)


 
April 17th
2000Z - 2200Z
The Work All Europe Sprint

Winner will have worked the most countries in Europe.  Tiebreaker will be based on # of QSOs and Multipliers.


 

May 15th
1600Z - 1800Z AND 2000Z-2200Z
The Dayton Hamvention Sprint

Bonus points for QSOs with the Feld Hell station operating from Dayton during the Hamvention.  There will be two 2-hour sessions.  Work both, if you want, you'll submit your best session score of the two.




 
June 19th
2000Z - 2200Z
The LEO Sprint

LEO stands for Law Enforcement Officer.  For this Sprint, if you are or were a law enforcement officer in any country you will indicate so in your QSO exchange (police, border patrol, customs, the complete list TBD)  Winner will have worked the most LEOs.


 
July 10th
1600Z - 1800Z
The Island Sprint

Winner QSOs with the most islands anywhere in the world - England, Martha's Vineyard, Hawaii, etc...  Tiebreaker points from # of QSOs and Multipliers.  Remember: "no man is an island!"  (Shown is Mayor Island, off the coast of New Zealand)


 

August 14th
2000Z - 2200Z
The WAS Sprint

Work the most states and win!  Tiebreaker based on total QSOs and Multipliers.


 
September 18th
1600Z - 1800Z
The Happy Birthday Hiram Sprint

To celebrate the birthday of a pioneering ham operator, and the founder of the ARRL.  Bonus points for QSOs with hams in Brooklyn (Hiram's birthplace) and Connecticut, the home of the ARRL.


 
October 16th
2000Z - 2200Z
The Spooky Sprint

20 meters has disappeared!  Well, not really, but as far as this Sprint is concerned.  Work as many contacts in as many states, provinces, or countries, but DO NOT USE 20 METERS!


 
November 20th
1600Z - 1800Z
The South America Sprint

Congratulations to Brazil, which will host the first-ever Olympics in South America in 2016.  This will be our first South America Sprint - winner works the most SA countries.  Total QSOs and multipliers will act as tiebreakers.



 
December 11th
1600Z - 1800Z
The Wright Brothers Sprint

Bonus points for QSOs with hams in Ohio and North Carolina, the states where the Wright brothers built and then test flew the first-ever motorized flying machine.
