Thank you for visiting our website. Due to limited volunteers, the group is no longer active. We greatly appreciate your support over the past three years. The cause is still there. We encourage you to continue to make a difference. Mission: Supporting a volunteer-run day centre that assists Afghan and Iranian children in Tehran who are impacted by poverty and exploitation. History: Friends of Children of Labour Cultural Centre was formed in July 2008 after the founding members visited the Children of Labour Cultural Centre in a neighborhood in the south of Tehran, Iran. Being inspired by the work of the volunteers and the incredible benefits to the children, the founding members decided to support the Children of Labour Cultural Centre in Calgary. The Children: The children face multiple barriers achieving an education and meeting their basic needs. These children are from Afghan refugee and impoverished Iranian families. They are working children, “children of labour” who do not have the opportunity to experience the joys of childhood, they often have to start working as young as age four to support their families. With the assistance and guidance of the Children of Labour Cultural Centre, these children have the chance to study, to learn new skills and to play as all children should. The Children of Labour Cultural Centre: This centre is established in Tehran to provide children with basic education and at least one meal a day. Our group hopes to raise money to help provide the school with needed financial support. Fundamental Objectives of Friends of Children of Labour Cultural Centre:
