I obtained my PhD from the  University of Cambridge in 2007, where I studied the perceptual learning of noise-vocoded speech at the Medical Research Council Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, supervised by Dr. Matt Davis, Dr Ingrid Johnsrude and Dr Bob Carlyon.

I subsequently moved to the Centre for the Neural Basis of Hearing in Cambridge, where I worked on fMRI studies of the cortical representation of speech sounds, with Prof. Roy Patterson.

In 2009 I began working in the Functional Brain Mapping Lab with Dr Narly Golestani, on a longitudinal study investigating structural and functional plasticity resulting from the acquisition of expertise in simultaneous interpretation.
I am currently also launching a project investigating the role of motor cortex in the processing of degraded speech.

My research interests are primarily focused on speech perception, with particular emphasis on speech comprehension in challenging conditions, such as degradation and distortion, and how the brain adapts to meet these challenges.
