Ministries

Our church family is involved in many ministries. Some of these ministries are listed here with a few of these showcased here:

Sunday School

A relaxed and informative fellowship time of Bible study for all ages - 9:50 a.m. each Sunday.

Music

The music ministry of First Baptist Church exists for several reasons: 1. To bring glory and honor to God.
2. To provide participants with an excellent opportunity of service and ministry in the local body of Christ.
3. To help singers and instrumentalists grow musically and spiritually. 4. To create an atmosphere of true worship through music.

FBC has an exciting, upbeat, blended music program. Our Worship Leader, Adult Choir, and Celebration Band lead the worship in the 10:50 am & 5:30 pm services on Sunday.

At FBC we recognize the important role music plays in the life of the church. As we build upon the foundation of Christ and a rich history of church music, we are blessed to have a diverse group of talented musicians who serve faithfully in the music ministry.

Whatever your age, or level of experience, there is a place for YOU in the music ministry at FBC.

Youth Group Mission Statement

Each of us will commit ourselves to God, and to have a Christ like attitude at all times and around all people. We will humble ourselves before God and others. We will build relationships with others to show Christ's love for everyone, and to lead others to Christ. To become closer to God, and to have a respectful and reverent attitude.

Various activities - Youth Time each Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Gymnasium Fellowship Hall.

Children's Church

Ages 5 years - 3rd grade each Sunday at 10:50 a.m.

Medi-Home

Sunday School each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. Various visits by the helpers from our church each week. Once-a-month hymn singing the last Saturday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Our nursing home ministry is very important to the members of First Baptist Church of Arkoma. Across the street from the church is Arkoma's nursing home, Medi-Home, where several of our church members reside. In this day and time, as it seems it has always been, many of our elderly are placed in nursing homes and forgotten until that eventual day when the nursing home calls and informs the residents family that they had passed away. We believe our seniors who are confined in nursing homes are still viable lives who need attention and ministered to.

Every Sunday morning a group goes to the nursing home and ministers to all the residents who wish to join in. A short lesson or devotional is presented and the residents are lead in some singing. The last Saturday of every month, a group from the church gathers at the nursing home for song service where many of the residents along with the staff join in the singing. Throughout the week, several of our members can be found at the nursing home ministering to the needs of the residents.

G.R.O.W.
God Rewards Our Work

Here we G.R.O.W. ! We are hoping you will be one of the many that have made the commitment to invest one night a month to our G.R.O.W. Outreach Ministry. It is all about being obedient in fulfilling "The Great Commission" of our Savior and Lord. Here are four simple ways you can serve in G.R.O.W.

  1. Prayer - "Heart to Heart" team. We need people who will seek the face of God on behalf of this great church, praying for each member and each prospective member.
  2. Home Visits - "Face to Face" team. We need people to make in-home visits. People have been considerate enough to visit our church home and we are obligated to re-pay the visit and thank them for considering First Baptist, Arkoma. Also, people need to hear that God loves them and we can present them with a tremendous message of love through Jesus Christ. This is also a great avenue to visit homebound members and hospitals.
  3. Write Letters - "Hand to Hand" team. We need people to write letters to the people of Arkoma and surrounding areas, people who are in need of encouragement.
  4. Phone Calls - "Voice to Voice" team. We need people to make phone calls to people who may be looking for a church home or call on people who have been away from First Baptist, Arkoma for some time. This will also be a great way to talk with Sunday School absentees and prospects.

The good news of G.R.O.W. is that we have a place for you to serve and help further the Kingdom of God!
