Description: In this engineering team project, we have designed and prototyped an automatic tissue dispenser which reduces cost due to excess usage of toilet tissue paper, user-friendly, and offers easy maintenance and increased in hygienic aspect.

8. Travel Grant for ASP-DAC 2008 PhD Student Forum


Date: January 2008
Award-winning paper: Fawnizu Azmadi Hussin, "Core-Based Testing of System-on-Chips Utilizing the Network-on-Chip Resources".
Description: The ASP-DAC 2008 Committee awarded a travel grant to attend the PhD student forum at ASP-DAC 2008 in Seoul.  The grant was offered to selected students based the quality of the PhD research papers submitted.



9. Monbukagakusho Scholarship


Period: April 2005 - September 2008
From: Japanese Ministry of Science and Technology
Description: Tuition fees and living expenses for doctoral research at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, worth about RM350,000 - RM400,000 (tuition fees paid directly to the university).


10. UTP Scholarship


Period: February 2000 - February 2001
From: Universiti Teknologi Petronas
Description: Tuition fees and living expenses for a Master program at the University of New South Wales, Australia.


11. Petronas Scholarship


Period: August 1994 - July 1999
From: PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Unit
Description: Tuition fees and living expenses for an English Language Program at the Norman English Institute (Oklahoma) during the first year and Bachelor Degree program at the University of Minnesota, worth approximately RM400,000 - RM500,000 (tuition fees paid directly to the institute and the university).

For the first six months at the English Institute, I had the opportunity to live with two American families (Bohanans and Gunters) as my host families. During the stay, my written and spoken English improved tremendously. I miss the Bohanan boys, Zack and Kyle.
