at Peak to Peak honor these traits. Parents
are always welcome to attend our character assemblies. The assemblies are held on select Thursday

September: Respect
v Due September 16—School and Home Examples of Respect
o Talk with your family about ways to be
respectful at school or at home. List 2
ways to show respect at school and draw a picture.
v Due September 23—Physical Properties of Rocks
o Find a neat rock at home with your
family. Use three words to describe it
and draw a picture of it.
v Due September 30—Responsibility/Tattling
o Sometimes children tattle because they
see rules being broken or because they are having conflicts with other
children. Sometimes children tattle just
to get attention. At home, discuss the
difference between tattling and telling.
Write two ways you can be responsible by handling problems on your own,
rather than tattling. Remember that when
a situation is harmful or dangerous, you can always ask a teacher for
help!
October: Responsibility
v Due October 7 – Aztecs and Mexico
o Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztecs
when they were alive, in what is now Mexico. Please discuss as a family what the capital
city of Colorado
is, and list one reason why it is important.
v Due October 14—School Examples of
Responsibility
o Responsibility is a very important
trait to have at school. Discuss
examples of when responsibility helped someone do better at school and when not
having responsibility caused problems. Write
or draw a picture of three ways to show responsibility at school.
v Due October 21—Character Celebration
o Please write your name and the name of
your character. Write 1-2 sentences
about how your character shows good character traits. Some traits to consider are respect,
responsibility, thankfulness, citizenship, valuing others, patience, integrity,
and excellence. We will share these
responses before our Character Celebration party on Friday, October 23rd!
November: Thankfulness

hygiene keeps us healthy. Talk with
your family about the importance of cleanliness and respecting your
body. Please chart at least three

by doing the following activities. This
chart is due Monday, November 9th.

v Due November 12—Veteran’s Day and
Thankfulness
- Please discuss the purpose of
Veteran’s Day (to remember those people—veterans—who have fought for America
to keep our freedoms and the land.)
Talk about any veterans you know or people who are currently
fighting for this country. Also,
discuss proper flag etiquette.
(Don’t let the flag touch the ground, respect for the flag, hand
over your heart when saying the pledge, stand when a flag is brought into
the room, etc.) Help students
understand the symbolism a country’s flag might have. List three reasons why we should be
grateful to, and respectful of, veterans, and of the flag.
v Due November 18—Thankfulness
o Discuss as a family the things for
which you are thankful. Please write a
list of 10 things you are thankful for.

for at school. You may include a picture,

traditions different cultures and religions have around the world. Please discuss 2 traditions your family has, and explain in your
book what they are and how you celebrate them. (i.e. New Year’s Eve routine, birthday dinner,
etc.)
v Due December 16—Thankfulness
Many people work hard to make sure our school is a
great place to learn (custodians, classroom teachers, specialists, lunch-room
workers, office staff, health room staff, principals, etc.). Write a short thank-you note to someone at
school for the hard work they do. Please
use the attached paper as we will actually distribute these notes!
