Helpful factor: The alphabet and license plate games will eventually play out. Arm yourself!” AOL ParentDish.com by Kathy Peel - 5 Essential iPhone Apps for Family Travel “Stop spending your road trips bickering or making the kids count cows or Volkswagens! Family Car Games will likely keep a few families together, with its endlessly distracting roster of games to choose from. No equipment necessary — except your phone and a playing partner. May 26, 2011 Happy Memorial Day weekend, if you're in the US and Happy weekend to all! Who's going to be traveling over 100 miles this weekend? Even though our own kids are now 13 and 17, we still play the family car games that are in the app we developed (in fact, older elementary school kids, middle- and high-schoolers will enjoy the games most.) We still play Pica Firma Nada, Honore Categories, A-to-Z-Story as we tackle US-1 or 90 or back roads. Plus I'd like to give you our an odd new game we can't figure out why we like so much...but you try it out and tell us! Nameless Phrases...it should go fast...silliness helps. Taking turns, someone says a 2-word phrase at random...like Bus Station. Next person says a phrase that either starts with Station or rhymes with it ("Nationwide"..."Wide load" ... "Load and lock" (we're not strict about the two words). That's it. But for some reason, we try to top each other in silliness or in creating a story and this (technically) pointless game has us howling. We warned you--take it away! Thank you to all the beautiful families around the world who continue to purchase our app and play together. We love knowing that at any time of day, someone somewhere is enjoying happy, free, loving family fun...thank you to Japan and Sweden and the UK and Mexico and Canada and Italy and the Ukraine and Ohio and East Flatbush and Canoga Park (you didn't think I'd leave you out, did you?) We salute our armed forces families...and send love to all. May you truly enjoy each other as long as you share a roof and that ever-busy car. Love from Todd, Ruth, Anna, and Gabe, the creators of Family Car Games!! Hello and welcome to the website for the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch app: "Family Car Games" that gives you instructions for 100 gear-free games the whole family can play! Guessing games, word games, singing games, memory games, games for under 5s, games using the car radio, lots of brand new games, a few old favorites...minivan-tested, all ways to have FUN...and bring your family closer together.
If you haven't gotten the app yet, here's the link to the iTunes App Store page:
Thanks for all the recommendations from our first 6 weeks on the market! Read all about it at our new blog: http://www.familycargames.blogspot.com
Mom-to-mom note: Tired of carsick, squabbling kids? On road trips, we used to rely on printable travel games to keep 'em busy, but found our kids got woozy staring at papers, or computer games...or they'd fight over who got to use the Gameboy. The nice thing about Family Car Games is that once you pick a game to play...you can put the iPhone away, until it's time to find another fun game. With 100 games, you won't run out of activities!)
We hope you enjoy our family travel game app, FAMILY CAR GAMES, and find our site useful. Please leave us a comment...we'd love to know who might be driving by us playing Love is Like a Shovel or the Cheeseplate Game!! And we'd like to know which travel game is your favorite.
Happy playing!
