Everyone's invited to come and get the Word out with us about Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday March 20th. We will meet at 10:00am at Vicar Tassey's home in Harrisburg and go out posting door hangers until lunch (12:00). After lunch we will finish off our areas from 1:00-2:30pm so that we get as much of Harrisburg as possible. If you can't join us for all of the event, please consider joining us for either the morning or afternoon leafleting. |

Thanks to a generous gift from the Southern Illinois District of the LCMS we were able to order new upholstered chairs for our sanctuary. They are comfortably padded, burgandy, and have book racks. God is working to grow his church. How amazing?! |

Our mission plant, Faith Lutheran Church, is starting the process of moving from a preaching station of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Golconda, IL, to a full fledged mission outpost of the Southern Illinois District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. This is an exciting process with a number of tasks ahead of us - including incorporation and filing for a not-for-profit status with the state. This is the official, business end of running a church and we continue to pray that God would lead us through this vision. Please keep this process in your prayers. |

Dear Beloved in Christ - I finally have a few minutes on the e-mail - there are only two sites in this area. We are all doing OK. This morning at the Divine Service of the Mission Lutheran Church of St. Stephen, Akobo, Sudan - which our dollars have helped to build - we had 143 in attendance, baptized 26 children and they received the Lord's Supper.
It is extremely hot here (in the 100 degrees) and the evenings cool down about 15 degrees - our Tukla (the hut I share with a Sudanese man named Paul who is on our mission team) as we take turns sleeping outside.
Email is very difficult and there is no telephone access at least as of today. I hope to be in contact with you before I leave for Nairobi on Friday. If not, hopefully on Saturday. Thank you all for your prayers, ministry and support. God's peace and blessings on your Epiphany day - Pastor |

Our sponsoring pastor, Pastor Rivett, is leaving for mission work in Akoba, Sudan Monday January 11th. He will be in Sudan for the next 3 weeks helping to train the members of another Lutheran Church plant in Africa on what goes into biblical worship, biblical preaching, and teaching from the Bible. He's going with others who will also be assisting the people in Akoba to start up small businesses to provide for their families and who will be bringing and teaching people to use medical supplies. We look forward to updates from Pastor Rivett about the work of the Holy Spirit in the coming weeks. |

We are holding Bible Studies after 8:30am Sunday worship on the days Vicar Tassey isn't previously committed to Our Redeemer, Golconda. In December and January we will have Bible Study the 6th and 13th, and, because Pastor Rivett will be in Sudan in January, we will only meet for Sunday Bible Study on the 3rd. The schedule will normalize after January. Watch the Calendar for more info and times. |
