"The Gospel of Life is at the heart of Jesus’ message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as “good news” to the people of every age and culture." Pope John Paul 11

Those who see suffering with merely human eyes cannot understand its meaning. We Christians know that suffering can be converted if we offer it to God. It can become an instrument of salvation, a path to holiness, that helps us to reach heaven. Blessed John Paul II

Helpers of God's Precious Infants

Helpers of God's Precious Infants started Nov.19 as an outgrowth of 40 Days for Life.  This is an incredible ministry of hope and faith which will save many lives. The sidewalk counsellors will be present when the abortion mill is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays every week when the ministry eventually kicks into high gear.  The vigil calendar and sign up form are available on the website.  Please take the time now to committ to ONE HOUR A WEEK to coming out and silently praying to support the sidewalk counsellors in their work and providing the witness to the unborn.

They need your presence.

Here is the website:  http://www.helpersottawa.org/

Helpers has  started a blog too, to keep people abreast of developments with their ministry.  Their second post has an interesting and intriguing question for the pro-life community in Ottawa:  Is God calling you to be a sidewalk counsellor?

Helpers also launched its Volunteer page where people can sign up to assist this very important ministry in three areas:  sidewalk counselor, vigiler, or spiritual helper.  Socon or Bust encourages 40 Days for Life  vigilers to sign up for the 5 dates selected for the remainder of the 2009 calendar year:  Nov.19, 27 and Dec. 2, 7, 17.  The hours are from 7AM to 5PM.  We all know that such a spiritual presence can have an amazing impact on what is going on inside the abortion mills....  We have all heard of Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood director who quit her job during this last 40 Days for Life Campaign,

Thursday Nov 19th was the first day that the Helpers of God's Precious Infants were out at the abortion site , and they were blessed with three possible turnarounds. Read the uplifting reports by F. and Doris: http://helpersottawa.blogspot.com/. Isn’t this a sign that God wants us to continue this peaceful prayer-vigil effort across from the abortion mill?

The objective is to have the  prayer-vigil one day a week between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, when abortions take place, which means Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The next day when the Helpers will be holding a vigil is Friday November 27th: click on the calendar. As you can see, there are a few spots available. Doris Gagnon, who looks after this ministry, hopes there will be at least three vigilers praying across from the abortion mill, and one or two sidewalk counselors distributing material. Please consider taking part in this life-saving/ culture changing prayer effort.
