Hello Everyone! Here are some updates from Tuesday night's meeting:
1. Our grand total raised in donations from the showcase was $1600! We received a check from BP for $1000 in the mail this week. We have decided to deposit this money into our General club funds to be allocated to chapter dues and project expenses as needed.
2. 10th week meeting we will be having a potluck to commemorate the end of the year...but wait! There's a twist! The theme of the potluck will be "Tropical"...interpret that how you will, food, dress or any other creative way you can think of!
3. New Officers: There will be a MANDATORY new officer meeting next Tuesday in addtion to General Meeting. You will all be receiving an email reminder with more details. Please be prepared to discuss the expectations for your position. Feel free to bring in any ideas for next year that can be worked on over summer.
4. Lastly, next week Jonathan will be transitioning into his position as President for the 2012-2013 starting next week. This means that this week's meeting was my last as President of EWB. It has been inspiring seeing so many people step up this year to make our club a stronger organization, and has made my job alot easier. I look forward to working with next years officers and project leads to expand on our accomplishments from this year, and to help leadership transitions go more smoothly with as little ambiguity as possible next year
I hope you all have a successful last few weeks of school and a wonderful summer! ![]()

Hello all, Thank you for those of you who attended our first annual Year End Showcase, and to everyone who worked hard to make it a success. We had about 80 attendees, enjoyed a catered dinner and listened to presentations about the projects. We have had alot of great responses already, from students, faculty and industry representatives. Here are the rest of the week's updates:
1. Engineering Alumni Day is Saturday, May 5th at 11:30 am going until 1:30 pm in front of Engineering V. Diego and Maanya are both going to be there to represent EWB, however I would like to see a better showing. Let me know if you are interested in going.
2. Officer nominations for the 2012-2013 school year will open up next week. Position (and descriptions) include:
President: Run meetings, look after general welfare of the club, participate in monthly conference calls with EWB-USA, take care of University related issues (club registration, etc.), serve as main contact point for the club.
External VP: Primary liaison to contacts outside of UCLA. This person must be willing to put thought and sensitivity into drafting emails and other forms of communication, as it is important to represent the club in the best way possible.
Internal VP: Assist the president in tasks related to improving the club itself. This can involve help with recruiting, other paperwork, and helping keep track of project activities.
Treasurer: Takes care of finances, including paying chapter dues, and dealing with both UCLA accounts and EWB-USA accounts.
Secretary: Takes meeting notes, assists other officers with organizational tasks
Social Chair: Organize social events to promote club bonding
Publicity Chair: Coordinates publicity for the club around campus. Requires the crafty, creative type :).
Webmaster: Maintains and updates website when needed.
Hope you guys have a great week! -Suzanne

April 10, 2012 Hey All, This week we had a short general meeting because I was a
bit under the weather, but nevertheless it is a busy week for EWB. Here
are our updates:
1. Engineering Welcome day is this Sunday
April 15th. We are going to be part of the Civil Engineering
Departments' activities for admitted students. We will be setting up a
table in the lobby of CNSI, and the event will run from 11-2 on Sunday.
We have volunteers from last week, but if you didn't get the memo, or
you have decided you want to participate, let me know.
2. EWB-LA professional chapter is having its Annual
Gala on April 21st. We have had members go in past years and it would
be great to have a good showing this year. It seems like there is
already interest so if you would like to go, email me soon so we can get
a carpool together. A flyer is attached. The cost to attend is $25
for students with ID.
3. Several details about the upcoming showcase were discussed. Remember to mention it to your friends and family.
See you all next week! -Suzanne |

Hello Everyone, Again, I hope you all had a wonderful spring break.
Things are getting busy for EWB and I'm glad to have so many dedicated
an interested students come out to meetings. Here are the updates from
this week:
1. We collectedT-shirt sizes! Excited to get that under way!
2. Volunteers for E-week activities: Club Showcase Tuesday April 10th (tabling) from 11am to 2pm in the Court of Sciences: Henry, Kent and Lauren (in shifts)
Kids Day Wednesday April 11th 1:30 to 2:30pm: AJ
So far we do not have enough volunteers for Kids Day. Please let me know if you are interested and free next Wednesday.
3. Engineering Open House Sunday April 15th from 11:30 to 2pm in CNSI (civil department exhibit); Tonia, Diego, and Lauren.
4.
Unfortunately, we will not be having a visit from Northrup Grumman at
meeting next week. Henry and I spoke to their representatives over
spring break and agreed that another arrangement for future involvement
would be more productive.
5. Our First Annual Year End Showcase will
be Monday April 30th at 6:30-8 pm in Kerchoff Grand Salon. We are in
the final planning push this next couple weeks. Thank you to Crystal
and everyone who has been so eager to volunteer for her committee.
Have a great rest of first week and I will see you all next week!

Hello everyone,The following is a recap of this week's meeting:
1. Thank you to those of you who came to the Tree People event. It was a good turnout of about 30 people from other EWB chapters including USC, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State LA. We hope to do a similar event again in the future.
3. The Engineering External Affairs office is hosting a student Phonathon to raise money for UCLA Engineering. Volunteers affiliated with student groups will receive $50 for their group. Both teams are planning on coordinating volunteers for a night, but if you are available for any other dates and would like to volunteer let me know. More information is below
4. Just a head's up, E-week is coming up 2nd week of spring quarter. We will need volunteers for tabling for the club showcase and Kid's day! More details to come closer to the event. There will also be a talent show featuring UCLA Engineers. If you have a talent and would like to represent EWB, let me know!
Thanks everyone, remember the Potluck is next week, and have a great rest of the quarter!
Info about the Phonathon:
The Engineering External Affairs office is hosting the first Student Phonathon Series. The Series will raise money for UCLA Engineering, provide funding for YOUR student group and allow participants to make connections with alumni and other supporters of the school. Engineering students will make phone calls and reach out to donors to ask for support of the Engineering Annual Fund. The Engineering Annual Fund provides much needed discretionary support which enables the school to fund research, student projects and programs, infrastructure improvements and to meet new challenges and opportunities when they arise. There are five scheduled sessions (dates and times are below) which need 15 callers and 2 on-call callers per night. For each student who participates, $50 will be donated to the group they represent. If your group commits to an entire night during the series, you’ll receive $750. There is no limit to the number of times a student or group can participate and reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner, training and materials will be provided at the beginning of each session.
