THE BIO I'VE BEEN PROMISING MYSELF TO MAKE SINCE WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE
We have finally moved in!
This is the most recent outdoor photo we have. My apologies for the crappy photo. It was taken from my blackberry while I was bored at the bus stop one morning. Next step, landscaping:)
Foyer
This is our front foyer. It is one of the two extensions that we added on to the house.
The above door is the entry to the house from the foyer. It was originally a sliding door that we removed from another area in the house and re-stained to match the foyer. I love the light fixture from Fortunoff.
The Family Room
The foyer opens into a family room. The Hallway tiles are Shivakashi Pink Granite. This used to be the entrance door to the house before we extended the front to create the foyer.
On your left, behind the foyer door, is the power room.
On your right when you come in is the family room. Someday soon the TV will be on the wall. In the meantime, we will just stare at our pretty green walls. Please excuse the lovely temporary blinds. We are waiting for the roman shades. Wall color is Soft Fern by Benjamin Moore.
From another angle.
Past the family room on the left in the hall leading to the laundry room and the office.
Laundry room is still a bit of a mess since it was our storage room during construction, but I can't express enough how nice it is not to have to go all the way to the basement anymore just to do laundry.
Living Room/Dining Room
Up a few stairs from the family room is our living room dining room combo, adjoining the kitchen.
To the right is our living room. The fireplace is newly built. Floors and windows were redone by the previous owners so we only had to refinish and repaint. Wall color is BM Beach House Beige. The wiring in the right corner is for a security motion sensor that is being installed tomorrow.
The dining table is Madagascar Ebony. Its hard to tell from the photos but the coffee table in the living room is from the same ensemble.
We opened the wall between the kitchen and the dining room to create more of an open, great-room type feel. It was a bit of a debate between "the elders" but I am so glad we did it in the end.
We designed this peninsula to serve as both a kitchen piece and a dining room buffet/server. The server is made of wenge, while the rest of the peninsula and the kitchen are cherry. In this photo it is difficult to see the difference.
We searched high and low for our pendant lights by ELK.
I love our six burner range. Coming from a small 24" one, its such a huuugge difference.
Granite is Jupirana Florencia (sp?)
Chairs from target! Despite the fact that they were a bit of a pain to put together, they are so comfy and they match our cherry wood cabinetry perfectly!
The spice rack. A last minute addition which I LOOOOVE!
The Staircase Railing
This is my grandmother's pride and joy. She begged us to replace the old one and I'm so glad we listened.
Our bubble chandelier above the stairs.
The Master Bath
Tiles are Afyon Sugar and Multi-Gold Onyx. This truly is our retreat.
Master Bedroom Closets
This one is mine
This one is DH's (although I have temporarily comandeered two drawers until my dresser arrives)
The Backyard
Here we are all set up for my Mom's surprise bday party.
More upstairs pics to come soon. In the meantime, below are:
Some pics from the past
THIS WAS OUR HOUSE WHEN WE BOUGHT IT 9/21/07
We are currently at what we HOPE is the tail end of our renovation. This Bio will remain a work in progress and the decorating part will come up a little at a time.
UNDER RENOVATION (WE REMOVED THE VINYL SIDING, ADDED BRICK AND STUCCO, CHANGED THE ROOF, ENTRY DOOR AND WINDOWS AND ADDED A FOYER)
THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE A FEW WEEKS AGO
THE BACK OF OUR HOUSE
BEFORE
Back of the house getting stuccoed
Back of the house with stucco and gutters. Still missing the iron rail but we're almost there! The wire hanging down is for a security camera.
THE EXTENSION
You can imagine our heating bills!
THE KITCHEN
WE OPENED UP THE WALL SEPARATING THE KITCHEN AND DINING AREA
AND ARE PUTTING IN A PENINSULA
KITCHEN PROGRESSION
IGNORE OUR COLOR SAMPLES. WE WERE JUST PLAYING WITH PAINT. NEXT STEP IS TAPING AND PAINTING. MAYBE IN A WEEK OR TWO WE'LL HAVE A KITCHEN!!!!
Did I say a week or two. I guess it took a month. But here it is - mostly done - woohoo!
here they are. The applicances I've been waiting to see for months. Covered in all sorts or plastic protectors. Cant wait to see what they really look like!!
LIVING ROOM
We are adding a fireplace, painting and changing the lighting in here.
Our fireplace "put together." I think the wood needs to be repositioned a bit before we put the marble up.
And our fireplace tiles are in. I love them and can't wait to see the whole area painted!!
MASTER BEDROOM
WE COMBINED TWO BEDROOMS TO EXPAND IT INTO A MASTER SUITE WITH TWO WALK IN CLOSETS AND A MASTER BATH
. HERE IS THE MESS WE HAD UNTIL JUST A FEW DAYS AGO!:)
NEXT STEP - PAINT. WE'RE HOPING FOR A SMOKEY BLUE ALTHOUGH I AM HAVING A REALLY TOUGH TIME FINDING ONE I'M HAPPY WITH.
OUR MASTER BATHROOM

THE MOST DECENT PICTURE I COULD GET!

A LITTLE ABOUT US
We met on a blind date/set-up on Dec. 9, 2004.
Six months later we were engaged, on June 10, 2005.
We tied the knot on March 11, 2006.

OUR HONEYMOON IN THE ISLANDS OF TAHITI
We spent 12 unforgettable nights in Tahiti, Rangiroa, Kia Ora Sauvage, Moorea and Bora Bora.
We had the entire Island of Rangiroa Sauvage to ourselves for two nights and shared it with one couple on our first night. No electricity!! No money. Just us and the beach. Unbelievable!!!!
