The coming year, 2009, marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his revolutionary opus, The Origin of Species. To commemorate this momentous occasion—the coming of age of 'Evolution,' so to speak—the various departments of the University of Notre Dame are joining together to host a research conference designed for undergraduates. The conference, 'Evolution of Age: Multidisplinary Reflections on Darwin 150 years later,' will be held on April 3-4, 2009 and will explore Darwin's evolutionary theories and their bearings on modern understandings of:
