2012 8th Grade Tech Test Practice and Review
Essential Question(s): What educational technology and information literacy skills should students know and be able to do to learn effectively and live productively in our increasingly digital world?
Learning goals: To demonstrate the skills and understandings of the Six Educational Technology Standards for 8th grade students.

    Cybersafety and Identity Theft
    Plagiarism, Illegal downloading, Illegal or threatening postings online

2011 Biography Projects for 8th Grade!
 
There are many resources for you to find information on the person you have chosen to do your project on.
1.  JCPL Databases   (Jefferson County Public Libraries Databases) 

    Try to use these databases first because they are very reliable sources and the citation is already done for you! Most of these databases require your Public Library cardnumber. Click on the JCPL Link above to go to the Jefferson County Public Library site. Then click on the purple "Research Tools" button. Scroll down to "Subject Guides" and click on "History/Genealogy/Biography." Go back to the top and look at the databases in the light purple box.
    The following sites are good to try first:
            Kids Info Bits  (click on people and then type of person)
            Biography in Context  (has primary sources)
            Middle Search Plus  (Go back to the purple 'Research Tools" tab and click on A-Z, then go to E and find EBSCOhost Middle Search Plus.)

2. For reliable Websites, go to "Search the Internet" (to the right of the light purple box)
    Click on Google: "Biography"  These are more reliable websites that you should try first.
    Other websites to try are:
            Biography.com
            Biogs.com  (gives more interesting facts and a flavor of their personality) 
               Eyewitness to History
               About Famous People.com 

3. Works Cited Page (Bibliography)
    Here is a link that tells you how to make a Works Cited page in case you get stuck. It also shows you an example.

    Most of the articles in the JCPL Databases and Encyclopedias have the source citation at the end of the article for your Works Cited page.
    All you have to do is copy and paste it onto your Google Docs Document.
