The PTA Council will have its next meeting of the 2009-2010 school year on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 pm in the JEH Administration Board Room, 1500 McDaniel Avenue. It will be a sharing session on Communications and Outreach. Representatives from these committees at each school are invited to share ideas and brainstorm. All PTA Council representatives and PTA Co-Presidents are encouraged to attend. |

On Monday, July 20, 2009, the District 202 Board of Education (Evanston Township High School) passed a resolution proposed by the PTA Council Joint Legislative Task Force, which acts as a liaison with our lawmakers in Springfield and Washington. The Task Force, chaired by Bob Heuer, solicited input from nutrition services officials and experts from around the country to devise a resolution highlighting state and federal legislation that could spur improvements to school meal and wellness programs. The resolution was written in collaboration with the Evanston Food Policy Council and is being promoted by the PTA Council’s Healthy Communities Task Force. The PTA Council as a whole passed the resolution at the May 21 meeting and brought the resolution to the boards of school districts 65 and 202. |

We will be hosting a "Parent to Parent" meeting for parents of 8th graders who will be attending ETHS next fall (2009-10). The meeting is at Thursday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Terrace Room.
Parents of current ETHS students will be on-hand to answer questions and provide suggestions for navigating the transition to the high school. |

The PTA Council and ETHS PTSA are proud to co-sponsor a meeting for parents on "How Do We Prepare Our Students for High School?" on Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Room S-214.
Dr. Laura Cooper, ETHS Asst. Supt. of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Richard Bowers,ETHS Freshman Dean, and Sue Schultz, D65 Asst. Supt. in charge of Middle and Magnet Schools, will be in attendance to share information and answer questions on topics like "How do D65 and D202 help to prepare students for high school; what is Access ETHS; how can D202 ensure a successful transition from middle school to high school."
This meeting is a follow-up to our January meeting with parents where we solicited suggestions for what both D65 and D202 can do to ensure that students are prepared for high school.
We are hoping that the administrators can share information about what the two districts are doing, separately and collaboratively, to ensure that every child is prepared, and we encourage parents to share their concerns and suggestions.
We hope that you will attend this lively and informative event. |
