Biography




American composer Evan Fein was born in 1984 in Cleveland, Ohio and currently resides in New York City, where he is enrolled in the C.V. Starr Doctoral program at The Juilliard School.  His music, which often blends classical European and vernacular American traditions, has been commissioned by organizations including The Albany Symphony, The Juilliard School, The New York Choreographic Institute, Cleveland Public Theater, The Canton Symphony, and the Vesuvius String Quartet.  The recipient of awards from the ASCAP Foundation as well as grants from Meet the Composer and the American Scandinavian Society, Evan began playing the piano and composing at the age of six and holds a Master of Music from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music.  In addition, he studied at the Freie Universität Berlin and L’École Normale de Musique de Paris.  Evan was the primary orchestrator on the film Sedona, and his first opera, The Raven’s Kiss, was premiered in concert at Juilliard in the spring of 2011.
