Short Definition 

  1. Students each write down their number (1-4), or pre-made number cards are distributed.  Teacher models trading of cards. Teacher indicates where students will focus their attention (PPT/overhead/flip chart) when the music stops.
  2. Students stand.
  3. Teacher starts upbeat music.
  4. Students walk around  the room trading their cards.
  5. Teacher stops the music; students stop to listen and view instructions.
  6. Teacher gives two instructions: 1) grouping (e.g. Groups of two, both different numbers) 2) discussion topic.
  7. Students discuss topic.
  8. Can be repeated for up to three rounds.
