General Information

Weather in Ankara

 
1. Conference Venue: Ankara University Cebeci Campus
 
The conference will take place in the ATAUM training centre at the Cebeci Campus (Ankara Üniversitesi Cebeci Kampüsü). It is one of the major campuses of the Ankara University.

Please note that turkish currency is the Turkish Lira (TL). You might want to change at the airport. Of course there are exchange offices in the city but you will need TL for the shuttle bus, taxi, etc. If you want to pay with € or $ you will be charged significantly more than the normal exchange rate.
 
2. Transportation
 
The international airport of Ankara is called "Esenboga". The airport is well connected by an airport shuttle bus line and public busses:
 
A one-way ticket with the Shuttle busses (HAVAS) costs 4 €. The busses stop at two ends of the lines: Havas station and ASTI (inter-city bus terminal) station. If you choose Havas station (travel time approx. 35 min.) to get-off you have to take a cab to go the hotel or conference venue. Taxi fee should be about 6-10 € from one place to another in the city in general. If you choose get-off at ASTI station (travel time approx. 60 min.) you can use the subway (see below). Busses to the airport depart at 03:00 – 04:00 and every half hour between 04:30 and 21:30. Between 21:30 and 03:00 services are arranged according to the departure times of flights.
 
Public busses (line 442) are for  2,10 € one-way. They stop at ASTI station and at Kizilay station, which is the main square of Ankara. Both stations are connected with the subway system.
 
Taxi: If you choose to take a cab from the airport to the city center,  transport fee should range between 30-35 €.
 
Subway: The Ankaray (the "green line" on the map), runs between AŞTİ (Ankara Şehirlerarası Terminal İşletmesi - Ankara Intercity Bus Terminal) and Dikimevi. The line has 11 stations. A one-fare ticket costs TL1,00. Important stations for your visit:
Kurtuluş: next station to the campus/conference venue
AŞTİ: terminal station of the airport shuttle bus Havaş
Kizilay: connects to the public bus service from the airport
 
3. Accommodation
 
Participants are free to choose the place for accommodation during the conference from one of the suggested guest houses and hotels listed below or to arrange accommodation by themselves.
 
Double Tree By Hilton Hotel
 
The Double Tree by Hilton is located in a walking distance (approx. 10 mins.) from the conference venue and also nearby the metro station named "Kolej", which is only 2 min. to Kurtulus subway. Room rates are 70€+VAT (breakfast included) for the single room and 85€+VAT (breakfast included) for a double room. University's Guest Houses
 
At the Ankara Üniversitesi Cebeci Kampüsü‎ 10 rooms (1 for 3 persons, 9 for 2 persons) are reserved for conference participants. Price for a room is 20 € for each person in a twin room, 25 € in a twin room with single use, or 15€ for each person in the three bed room. Please note that there is no breakfast available at the Guest House. Breakfast facilities can be found on the campus.

Advance payment of 1/3 is required for reservation in the Guesthouses, but no online booking procedure can be provided. Please contact the organisation office for assistance and information about accommodation in the Guesthoueses.

4. Excursion
 
For Sunday the 27th November a guided City Tour and visit to the Anatolian Civilisations Museum is going to be organized. Partizipation fee will be 20 € including the entrance fee of the Museum. The tour is going to start at 13:30 (EET) and will finish approximatel at 17:30. If you want to participate please indicate this in the registration form.
