We are privileged  at C.E.S.U. to have such a diverse community of learners.  Our ELL students represent a wide range of languages and cultures from around the world.

Our mission is to prepare students to become competent learners, able to communicate successfully in English in the areas of  listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  By working together we can ensure that every child can realize his or her full potential and obtain academic success in a culture of achievement.   Regardless of a student's present English proficiency level, our goal is for learning at all times to be accessible and success attainable.

Did you know that there are aproximately 6,912 languages spoken throughout the world?  Linguistics predict that by the year 2050 half of these languages will have disappeared.  On an individual level to lose a language is to lose part of one's culture, heritage, and identify.   ELL students, while in the process of acquiring English, run the risk of losing the ability to communicate in their first language.  Part of our mission is support children and their families in maintaining this important tie.  One way to do this is to promote respect and understanding of linguistic and cultural diversity on a school wide and community level.
