It was our junior year, oh what a great year that was, when we experienced the ride of our lives. The birds were singing and the sun was bright as we walked down the street approaching the school. Bret and I were so excited. All we could do was look at each other and laugh as we talked about what kind of dance moves we were going to bust out in the middle of the notorious north quad. Everyone in school knows what day we are talking about. We are talking about the always-incredible 80's day! The day of neon, short shorts, leggings, big hair and loud boom boxes echoing through the hallways. We always knew that that was an easy way to annoy many of the teachers on campus, But we never cared because it was 80's day and anything goes on 80's day. As we approached the school, we each took a deep breath, looked at each other and said, "Here we go".
As each period passed, Kevin and I grew more and more anxious to get out to the quad. We literally were practicing our dance moves while waiting for that last bell to ring for 5th period to let us out to lunch. Finally, the time had come. We sprinted down the halls, pushing and shoving people out of the way to be the first ones on the dance floor. As we got closer to the quad the music became louder and louder; Kevin and I just turned to each other in amazement and excitement as goosebumps went up our arms. As soon as we hit the quad and heard the beat drop, we couldn't help but to just break out and dance up a storm as a circle formed around us. All we could hear was the music blasting and all we could feel was tons of people around bumping into us as we all were having the greatest times of our lives. The cameras of the newspaper editors were flashing and all we could see was the broad backside of Trevor Richter. We even got a soul train line going that must have had at least 50 people. It was amazing. Even though the bell rang and the fun had to end, we still were so pumped and excited as we walked home. We will always remember that day. feed://cinch.blogtalkradio.com/3109775566 |
