Each student enrolled in the band program is also enrolled in one of our concert ensembles. Our concert ensembles rehearse on Saturday morning about twenty times a year. The Saturday Ensembles are an essential part of the complete instrumental music education a student receives. In these ensembles the students get to put to use what they learn during their individual lessons. We have three concert bands that perform in a winter band concert with the high school bands, at Family Music Fest, and at our own elementary school band concert in the spring. We also have two jazz ensembles that rehearse on Saturday mornings. The jazz ensembles are open to all students with one or more years playing experience. The jazz ensembles perform at concerts, and also at the spring jazz concert with the high school jazz bands. Just as important as learning to play in a band is the opportunity to meet students from other schools in the KMLHS federation. Students get to know each other at Saturday band and form friendships that last through grade school and also when they enroll at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School. Being able to make music with students who share the same faith and ideas is one of the driving forces behind the Elementary School Band Program. |
