***IMPORTANT*** Last year we had nearly 400 parents on our Parent Email List. This year we have only about 60. Several parents have indicated that they filled out the form to be included on the PAC list, but these forms have not been received in the office.If you would like to be included on the Parent Email List please send me an email. I receive several dozen emails a day, so that I do not miss your email please put PARENT EMAIL LIST in the subject line. In the email itself, please put your first and last name (I do not need student information at all). Please do this even if you sent in a form to the school, if I have told you that you are on the list already or if you were on the list last year. I am not sure why the forms seem to have gone missing, and I do apologize for any inconvenience! INFORMATION ABOUT FUNDRAISING All PAC funds at this time are received from Gaming Grant monies only. Our PAC does not participate in fundraising as a general rule. However, Hamber has many clubs and teams that participate in a wide variety of fundraisers throughout the year. It is our mandate that we do not try to compete with the excellent fundraising work these motivated students are participating in. As well, I often get parent suggestions for sales like Avon etc., but just a reminder, our PAC Bylaws state that no parent or family member can financially benefit from any PAC fundraising that might be undertaken. If you have a specific fundraising idea that you would like PAC to consider endorsing please ensure the following before you bring your idea forward: 1) Ensure that no Hamber parent or family member will financially (directly or indirectly) benefit from the fundraiser, either through commissions or the expansion of client lists etc. 2) Ensure that any fundraiser you would like PAC to endorse fully meets the BC Ministry of Education Healthy Schools Guidelines. 3) Ensure that similar fundraisers are not already established by any other groups, clubs or teams at the school. (ie. you would like to have a plant sale for Mother's Day, but there is already a flower sale for Mother's Day for example.) 4) Ensure that you have enough volunteers willing to help you in the organization and implementation of the fundraiser you are suggesting. This should include at least one individual who is willing to head up the event. If you are willing to head up a fundraising committee and are able to come up with ideas please do let me know. If you would like to discuss a particular fundraising idea at a meeting please let me know at least a week before the meeting so I can add you to our agenda. |
