Ms. A. Olivas- Keyboarding Teacher, Yearbook Adviser
abolivas@episd.org Hello, I have been a Teacher at Hornedo Middle for about eleven years. I have a BBA, a Master's in Education from UTEPand a Secondary Teaching Certificate. I have lived in El Paso all my life because I love the sun! I enjoy cycling and running on my free time.
About the Class
1st Six Weeks
Students will be graded on TECHNIQUE,and KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMPUTER (How it works, and the basic parts of a computer). Book : Century 21- Cover lessons 1-25
*Using Straight Average
2nd Six Weeks
Students will be introduced to basic formatting of memorandums, reports, business letters, tables. We will also be using Connected Tech for online projects and Career cruising for Education plans.
3rd Six Weeks
The last six weeks students will be working toward improving their keyboarding skills/speed on Timed writings (3-5minutes). Students will be learning about networking, etc. Students do have a final exam.

Class Supplies: Students must bring paper, pen/pencil every day to class. No memory sticks will be needed since students will be saving on the schools computers. Students should bring 1 box of Kleenex or disinfectant wipes.
LATE WORK POLICY: 70 FOR 1 DAY LATE, 50 FOR THE 2ND DAY LATE AND A 0 AFTER THE 3RD DAY LATE.
CLASS RULES:
Respect others, Be prepared for Class, Raise your hand for permission to speak or leave your seat, follow the teacher's directions, follow all school rules (dress code, gum chewing, cell phone policy, etc.)
CONSEQUENCES OF BREAKING CLASS RULES/PROCEDURES
1ST - 2nd-Verbal Warning-phone call home
3rd-Conference with parents
4th -At risk Referral or Counselor Referral
5th- Discipline Referral
Students exhibiting any form of severe behavior that endangers another student, violates the law, or seriously prevents the teacher from teaching or other students from learning, will be referred to the assistant principal.
