Peace with Justice Sunday

Background: Peace with Justice Sunday, observed annually on the Sunday after Pentecost, is intended to be a time to "witness to God's demand for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world." As provided by theDiscipline, the Peace with Justice offering is evenly divided between the Peace and Justice (PwJ) fund administered by the General Board of Church and Society, and the Annual Conference Peace and Justice fund.

Peace with Justice Sunday is to be celebrated "preferably on the first Sunday after Pentecost." Therefore, Peace with Justice Sunday will be officially observed on June 7, 2009; but some churches choose other times to observe Peace with Justice Sunday.www.umcgiving.org/PWJS
