Our Vision

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference fully embraces social justice and peace as on-going priorities, with an active Church and Society work area in every congregation, committed to restoring God’s kingdom to all. 

(Luke 4: 16-19)

Our Mission

The mission of the Church and Society Work Team is: Making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by:

  • Promoting an understanding of the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church, among clergy and laity.

  • Educating local congregations on social justice issues, especially those related to preventing and reducing poverty, promoting global health, preventing child abuse, and encouraging inclusiveness in churches.

  • Developing church leaders who understand how to connect mercy and justice as they put their passion for  social justice into practice.

  • Supporting congregation in their efforts to promote peace and justice in their communities.

  • Facilitating networking and sharing of resources on social justice issues among congregations.
  • Encouraging congregations to witness for Christ be being and inviting presence and voice of Christ as they advocate for those in need.
  • Nurturing an understanding of the spiritual foundations for social justice advocacy.

When and where do we meet?

     Next meeting We will meet on Saturday September 26, but the time and place are changed.  The time will be 1-4 pm, and the place will be Phoenixville UMC in their lounge near the sanctuary. , Nov. 21
