Scrolling through the results of the Ballerina project almost made up for my absence. I was able to enjoy some of the most beautiful photographs I've ever encountered. Many photographs featured all the perfect elements, consistent clean lighting, subtly beautiful backdrops, contrasts, focus on the subjects, appropriate colouring (sometimes nostalgic, other times vivid), among others. While most photographs were perfect in their own way, I made up a mental criteria consisting of focus (intentional blur / not), appropriate colouring, rule of thirds, usage of a clean background, avoiding small traffics of people, and overall feeling. If I had to stop for a second longer to look at a photo, it captured my attention and therefore can be labelled as personally "good". If I had to stop for a minute to observe a photo, that's when I commented to let the photographer know of their art.
After looking through many albums, I thought of ways I could improve my photographs. For one, I would allow more colour into them. I would also dress Caitlin in more flowing clothing, use a variety more backgrounds, and have her feet in water (one of my favourite characteristics of some photos).
Ultimately, this was a very entertaining assignment, start through finish. I hope for more opportunities like this in the future.
