2. Old Business A. Recent Photo Opportunities 1. Moonrise and/or sunset photo opportunity, 2 Oct (Milton Hee) Good participation; windy conditions, vog and cloudy conditions 2. Photographing the Waianae Coast, 10 Oct (Ed Yee) Good participation, unexpected lighting conditions and a rogue wave 3. Honolulu Orchid Society, 70th Annual Exhibit, (Lytha Conquest) Good show. Look for the next one in March 2010, photographers are welcome B. Future Photo Opportunities 1. Moonrise and/or sunset photo opportunity, (Milton Hee) Date/Time: Monday, Nov 2nd / 5:30pm Events: Sunset -- 5:55pm; Moonrise -- 5:54pm, azimuth - 68 degrees. Location: Kahala Beach Park (map name - Waialae Beach Park) C. Christmas Party Update (committee) Christmas Party – Friday, December 11 @ KCC Ka`Ikena; Events: Pupu, Dinner, Annual Photo Contest; Grab Bag etc. Specifics - cost, photo contest details will be provided by e-mail and will also be posted on the calendar. D. Community Support 1. Club donation to the Hawaii State Library System. (covered in para 1D, above) 2. Member’s support for the Honolulu Chorale. (Connie Leong) E. 2010 Exhibit Schedule 1. Hawaii State Library (Luther Chong) a. The EOH 2010 HSL Exhibit is scheduled for 6-27 May. b. Exhibit in 3 areas, space for 40 - 50 photos, including panoramas on the walls 1) Entrance Lobby, 2) 1st floor Reading Room, 2 walls 3) 1st floor Reading Room exhibit case c. Specifics i.e. photos /member, size, hanging/framing options etc, will be provided by the end of the year. 2. Other potential venue An offer for a joint exhibit, at the Pali Gallery, was briefly discussed. However, the timeframe, preceding the May HSL exhibit is a potential conflict (related to members resources). No motion to pursue this offer was made.
3. New Business - A. Technical Topic -- Batteries (Jim Young) Short review of personal experiences with “3rd party” camcorder batteries and “AA” single use batteries. B. EOH 2010 photo trip to Inner Mongolia. (Jim Young) Excursion will leave Jul 28 for 15 days. Details will be sent to members soon.
4. Presentations A. Guest speaker Presentation -- “Northern India” by Chick Alsop Great (real slide) presentation and narration related to countryside, food, farms, transportation, people, and housing/accommodations during 2 visits, in 2007 and 2008 while working for the Jamyang Foundation (www.Jamyang.org). B. Dinner Dance - 4 minute film by member James Young Funny!! Another approach to the anticipation and enjoyment of food (by a cute dog).
