Business Meeting
1. Administrative A. Introduction of visitors and new members (Jim Young) B. Treasurer's Report, Membership count (May Uyehara) 96 reported, 2 more turned in at meeting C. E-mail status (Rita Kaku) 2. Old Business A. Club Picnic – recap (Connie Leong), Great picnic, 45+ attendees, lots of food at the 1`st EOH picnic. Cost to EOH: $124.43 Thoughts for next year include a camp over prior to the picnic.. B. Recent Photo Opportunities 1. Moon Walk (Milton Hee) Good participation, great view of the moonrise and fireworks C. Future Photo Opportunities 1. Moonrise and/or sunset photo opportunity, 2 Oct (Milton Hee) Kakaako Park, Diamond Head side overlooking Point Panic Sunset will be at 6:18pm and moonrise is at 5:21 pm. 2. Field trip 10 October, “Photographing the Waianae Coast” (Ed Yee) Meet at the Waikele McDonald's by 8:30AM then convoy to various locations along the Waianae coast. (see EOH calendar for additional information) 3. Honolulu Orchid Society, 70th Annual Exhibit, (Lytha Conquest) Oct 9 & 10 (9a-6p) and 11 (9a-4p), McKinley HS Cafeteria free admission Event reminder cards were passed D. Future Exhibits - 1. Hawaii State Library 2010 - Date to be established 2. Other - E. Christmas Party Update (committee), KCC, December 11 selected; $500 deposit, Ricky Oshima negotiating menu and price.
3. New Business A. Club donation to the Hawaii State Library System. (Connie Leong) Member’s generous monetary donations, $200, were collected by Connie Leong at the meeting. The funds will be delivered by Florence Yee to the Friends of the Library on 9/30 for credit the Hawaii State Library. B. Request for support for the Honolulu Chorale – Connie Leong requested EOH support for “The Honolulu Chorale”. Proceeds from photo donations (prints that could be sold by the flea market, silent auction process etc ), would be used to augment the choir’s programs during the current financial “hard times”. Connie will collect items at the next meeting,
4. Presentations A. Mentor Talk (Ed Yee), “Using Light to Your Advantage” Excellent presentation (using 47 slides) that showed the results of the various lighting situations from many of Ed’s photo trips.. References to the current PBS “National Parks” series and the use of filters were included. The EOH field trip , “Photographing the Waianae Coast” on 10 October will be the follow-up to the presentation. B. Member’s contributions Gary Nakanishi - Great photo essay of his grandchildren.. Ed Freeman – Fantastic Thunderbird and moonrise photos.
