 The dog park petition has come to a close. We are proud to say: Your support and commitment for a dog park in Valley Stream has led our local officials to not only consider the idea, but to fully support and commit the development of a dog park in our community. Friends of Valley Stream Dog Park, which Envision Valley Stream helped develop and is a part of, is working with the Village of Valley Stream to plan and construct a large and small dog park. As of September 2011 we are in the planning phase - we have chosen a site, developed plans, reached out for support and fundraising. Contractors for fencing will be selected the middle of the month and all Village departments included in the building of the park are prepared to begin their work. We thank the Village officials and employees who have dedicated much time, effort and money to this project. We would also like to thank the volunteers who have dedicated valuable time and resources. UPDATE: December 2012 - The fences and gates are up! Boy scouts are conducting an Eagle Scouts project which will furnish the dog park with shelter, benches, obstacles, signage and more! The expected official opening of the dog park will not be until the Spring, but test runs may be conducted over the Winter.
