a) The name of this organization shall be the English Valleys Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization. It also shall be known as E.V. PTO or as the PTO.

Article II Objectives-Mission

a) To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and community.

b) To bring closer the relationship of home and school so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of the child.

c) To enhance the educational facilities and opportunities for the students of English Valleys Elementary School that are not otherwise provided for in the school corporation budgets.

Article III Policies

a) This organization shall neither seek to direct the administrative activities of the school nor to control its policies.

b) This organization may make suggestions to the administration concerning activities of the school, if such suggestions are made toward the betterment of conditions for all concerned (i.e., students, teachers, administrators and parents).

Article IV Membership

a) Any parent, guardian, or other person with a child enrolled in and attending the English Valleys Elementary School, or living in the English Valleys school district.

b) Each member of the licensed teaching staff working in the English Valleys Elementary School.

c) Any member shall have the privilege of making motions and serving on committees.

d) There will be no membership dues.

Article V Officers

a) The officers of this organization shall be no more than one President, one Secretary, and one Treasurer.

b) Officers shall be elected at the July meeting of the organization by the members present.

c) Appropriate notification of elections will be given to the school populace.

d) A vacancy occuring in any office shall be filled by a person elected by a majority vote of the remaining members of the PTO.

Article VI Duties of Officiers

a) President shall preside at all meetings of the organization.

b) Shall be the primary contact for the principal and/or administration and shall be a member of all committees; and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed in these bylaws.

c) Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings of the organization and place copies of minutes of regular meetings on the school's website.

d) Treasurer shall receive all monies of the organization; shall keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures; and shall pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the PTO. She/He shall present a financial statement at every meeting.

Article VII Meetings

a) The regular monthly meetings of the organization shall be on the fourth Wednesday of the month starting at 6:30 PM at the English Valleys Elementary Library.

b) When school is not in session, the monthly meeting will be at an alternate location made by the PTO.

c) Special meetings may be called by the President at any time. Appropriate notification (3 school days) will be given to the school populace.

d) Three members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum necessary for the transaction of business of the organization.
