Daniel 2

Daniel Chapter Two

Daniel 2:1

“And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.”

Daniel 2:1

“And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar”

  • This was the 2nd “official” year (Babylonians did not count the year of coronation)
  • This was the third year of Daniel’s captivity
  • This dream occurred after Daniel was tested since they were counted as part of the group to be killed
  • Note: Babylon is located about 60 miles south of Baghdad, Iraq

 “Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams,”

  • The ancient peoples believed that the gods spoke thru dreams to reveal their will to men
  • This dream was meant:

1.       to get the king’s attention and to focus him on the true God

2.       To help future generations

3.       To change Daniel and his 3 friend’s lives

Daniel 2:2

“Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.”

Daniel 2:2

“the  magicians”

  • Enchanters who used divination to interpret dreams: Egyptian source, used dead animals and livers to read the future

“ the astrologers”

  • Enchanters who used divination with the stars to foretell the future

 “the sorcerers”

  • Enchanters who used dead people to foretell the future (necromancy)

“the Chaldeans”

  • The intelligencia who used science and mathematics to foretell the future

“to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.”

  • The king made his trusted advisors come in order to have them help him with his dream

Daniel 2:3

“And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.”

Daniel 2:3

“I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled”

  • The dream he dreamed was important but he does not know why
  • Spirit here refers to the king’s mind
  • God has convinced him that this dream is vital

Daniel 2:4

“Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.”

Daniel 2:4

“Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack,”

  • The 1st chapter of the book of Daniel and the 1st 3 verses of the 2nd chapter are written in Hebrew
  • Beginning with this verse up to Daniel 8:1, Daniel then writes in Aramaic (Syriack)
  • Daniel spoke both languages and some stories may be better told in the original!
  • In Daniel 8:1, Daniel switches back to Hebrew

Daniel 2:5

“The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.”

Daniel 2:5

“The thing is gone from me:”

  • The dream was taken away so the wise men could not give false interpretations

“ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.”

  • The king is realizing that his advisors are not who they claim to be

Daniel 2:6

“But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.”

Daniel 2:6

“ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour”

  • The king promises great reward if they will tell him the dream and its meaning
  • However, if they don’t they are doomed

Daniel 2:7

“They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.”

Daniel 2:7

“Let the king tell his servants the dream,”

  • They insist that the king must tell them the dream for them to interpret it
  • There is no way for them to read the king’s mind (nor can Satan read our minds)
  • If Satan could read our minds he would have told his sorcerers the dream

Daniel 2:8

“The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.”

Daniel 2:8

“ye would gain the time,”

  • The king is suggesting that they are delaying since they can’t answer him but he also may be concerned about the time element since the dream may require him to act at the opportune time

Daniel 2:9

“But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.”

Daniel 2:9

“there is but one decree for you”

  • The king is now getting more upset
  • He had previously threatened them but did not get the answer he desired and so he now reiterates his penalty

“for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me,”

  • He now recognizes that they have been lying to him

 “till the time be changed:”

  • This could mean “until I forget about this” or it could refer to missing the opportune time

“therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation”

  • One last chance!

Daniel 2:10

“The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.”

Daniel 2:10

“There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter:”

  • This task is beyond human capabilities

“therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.”

  • They now blame the king!

Daniel 2:11

“And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

Daniel 2:11

“it is a rare thing that the king requireth”

  • Rare here means difficult

“except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

  • No man can do this
  • Only the gods can do this
  • Ultimately this statement is proven totally correct which will help the king learn who is in charge (God)

Daniel 2:12

“For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.”

Daniel 2:12

“the king was angry and very furious,”

  • The king’s patience was gone!
  • It’s not good to upset the king!

“commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.”

  • The death decree was given to include all the wise men

Daniel 2:13

“And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.”

Daniel 2:13

“the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain;”

  • The decree was to kill all of the wise men

“and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.”

  • Daniel and his 3 friends were already considered part of the wise men therefore, this dream must have occurred after their testing by the king

Daniel 2:14

”Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:”

Daniel 2:14

“Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom”

  • Daniel answers tactfully or with discretion

“Arioch the captain of the king's guard,”

  • Arioch was sent to kill the wise men

Daniel 2:15

“He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.”

Daniel 2:15

“Why is the decree so hasty from the king? “

  • Hasty: urgent (LXX suggests harsh)

“Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.”

  • Daniel apparently was not aware of what was happening and was not part of those who were called to the court originally

Daniel 2:16

“Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.”

Daniel 2:16

“Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time,”

  • Daniel asks for time to interpret the dream
  • Daniel does not ask for the dream to be given to him

“that he would shew the king the interpretation.”

  • Daniel is confident that his God will answer

Daniel 2:17

“Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:”

Daniel 2:17

“made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,”

  • Daniel goes immediately to his 3 friends to get their help
  • Daniel understands God’s rules of engagement (more power in the prayers of more righteous men)

Daniel 2:18

“That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.”

Daniel 2:18

“That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret;”

  • They are asking for God’s mercy to protect them from the king’s death decree
  • They had faith based on their prior experiences

“that Daniel and his fellows should not perish”

  • They were praying for their very lives

Daniel 2:19

“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”

Daniel 2:19

“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision.”

  • God revealed the answer to Daniel in a vision at night
  • The answer had nothing to do with Daniel’s abilities

“Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”

  • The proper response to answered prayer: praise to God

Daniel 2:20

“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:”

Daniel 2:20

“Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever:”

  • Daniel praises the name God which can refer to His name or His character

“for wisdom and might are his:”

  • God is the Source of wisdom
  • God is the Power behind the world’s events

Daniel 2:21

“And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:”

Daniel 2:21

“And he changeth the times and the seasons:”

  • God controls the times and the seasons

“he removeth kings, and setteth up kings:”

  • God controls when kings reign and when they don’t reign

“he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:”

  • God is the Source of all wisdom, not the pagan gods
  • God is the Source of all true knowledge and gives it to those who know Him

Daniel 2:22

“He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.”

Daniel 2:22

“He revealeth the deep and secret things:”

  • God knows all the secrets and all the hidden things and reveals them when He chooses
  • Daniel is explaining that God has given this answer not Daniel

“he knoweth what is in the darkness,”

  • Nothing can be hidden from God
  • Evil hides in the darkness but cannot hide from God

“and the light dwelleth with him.”

  • God is omniscient
  • God is the Source of light and is the Light of the World

Daniel 2:23

“I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.”

Daniel 2:23

“I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might “

  • Daniel is thanking God for answering their prayers
  • God is Daniel’s source of wisdom and strength

“hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.”

  • Daniel has been given both the dream and its interpretation

Daniel 2:24

“Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.”

Daniel 2:24

“Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon:”

  • Daniel first goes to Arioch to stop the killing of the wise men
  • All of the wise men are going to be saved because of Daniel and his 3 friends

“Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.”

  • Daniel says to not kill anyone
  • Let me talk to the king
  • Daniel has the answer for the king!

Daniel 2:25

“Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.”

Daniel 2:25

“Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste,”

  • Arioch went to the king in haste which suggests that he did not want anyone to die

“and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah,”

  • Now Arioch takes credit for finding the answer!
  • Note: he calls Daniel a captive of Judah which is also a way of putting down Daniel

Daniel 2:26

“The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?”

Daniel 2:26

“Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation”

  • The king answered Daniel and ignored Arioch
  • Can you do the impossible?
  • Can you do what no one else in the kingdom could do?
  • Can you tell me the dream and its interpretation?

Daniel 2:27

“Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;”

Daniel 2:27

“The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;”

  • The wise men can refer to all the groups or to the Chaldeans
  • The magicians refers to those who used magic and to those who read future using dead animals and livers
  • The astrologers used the stars to foretell the future
  • The soothsayers used the stars and mathematics to read the future

Daniel 2:28

“But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;”

Daniel 2:28

“But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets,”

  • Even though your wise men can not do this God can!

“maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.”

  • Latter days here refers to the history of the world up to the end

Daniel 2:29

“As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.”

Daniel 2:29

“thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter:”

  • “hereafter” refers to future world events

“he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.”

  • He that revealeth is God
  • What shall come is the future

Daniel 2:30

“But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.”

Daniel 2:30

“But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living,”

  • Daniel refuses to take any credit for this interpretation but gives all the credit to God

“but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king,”

  • “their” is added word: for the sake of making known to the king

Daniel 2:31

“Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.”

Daniel 2:31

“behold a great image.”

  • Image or statue

“whose brightness was excellent”

  • Extraordinary appearance

“form thereof was terrible.”

  • Terrible means dreadful

Daniel 2:32

“This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,”

Daniel 2:32

“This image's head was of fine gold”

  • Fine gold means pure gold

“his breast and his arms of silver,”

  • The image is made up in different sections out of different metals

“his belly and his thighs of brass,”

  • The abdomen and thighs are brass

Daniel 2:33

“His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.”

Daniel 2:33

“His legs of iron”

  • The image’s legs are a fourth metal: iron

“his feet part of iron and part of clay.”

  • The image’s feet and toes will be a mixture of clay and iron

Daniel 2:34

“Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.”

Daniel 2:34

“a stone was cut out without hands,”

  • Cut out without hands means that this stone does not have human origins
  • This stone has divine origins

“which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.”

  • The stone will destroy the image but strikes the feet indicating the timing

Daniel 2:35

“Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”

Daniel 2:35

“Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors”

  • The entire image was destroyed which means the stone will replace all of them

“that no place was found for them:”

  • No place was found means destroyed completely

“the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”

  • This stone replaces the image
  • This stone will fill the entire earth
  • This stone will grow into a mountain meaning it will become much larger and more important

Daniel 2:36

“This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.”

Daniel 2:36

“we will tell the interpretation thereof”

  • “we”: Daniel here acknowledges his 3 friends help

Daniel 2:37

“Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.”

Daniel 2:37

“for the God of heaven”

  • Daniel is here pointing out to the king that his god, Bel (Marduck), could not answer his question
  • Only the true God of heaven could do this and He was the Source of the king’s kingdom, power, strength, and glory

Daniel 2:38

“And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.”

Daniel 2:38

“hath made thee ruler over them all.”

  • God has made you ruler over all mankind and the beasts and the birds
  • Note how many times Daniel has pointed this out!

“Thou art this head of gold.”

  • Babylon would rule from 605 B.C. to 538 B.C.
  • Gold: Babylon would be known for her gold in the city, her temple, and even in the priests robes!

Daniel 2:39

“And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.”

Daniel 2:39

“And after thee shall arise another kingdom”

  • The next kingdom would be Medo-Persia (Dan. 5:28)
  • Cyrus the king of Persia overthrew the Medes in 553 B. C. but allowed Darius the Mede to rule over Babylon (overthrown in 538 B. C.)
  • King Cyrus was foretold by Isaiah (Isa. 45:1)

 “inferior to thee”

  • Medo-Persia was known for it’s silver
  • Silver is inferior in value to gold
  • Medo-Persia would reign from 538-331 B.C.

“another third kingdom of brass”

  • The next kingdom would be Greece (Macedonia)
  • This kingdom would be known for it’s brass or bronze products
  • Greece would reign from 331–168 B.C.
  • Alexander the Great would overthrow Darius III at the battle of Arbela even though he was out numbered 20 to 1

Daniel 2:40

“And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.”

Daniel 2:40

“And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron:”

  • Rome overthrew Greece in 168 B.C.
  • Rome would rule the world until 476 A.D.
  • Rome was known as the iron monarchy (Gibbon, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire)
  • Rome was known for it’s iron shields and iron swords and was the strongest world power up to it’s time

“And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron:”

  • Rome would break up many kingdoms and then would be broken up itself

Daniel 2:41

“And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.”

Daniel 2:41

“thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron,”

  • Rome would be followed by kingdoms represented the feet and toes
  • These kingdoms would be a mixture of iron (strength) and clay (weakness)
  • Some would be stronger than others
  • The ten toes would represent ten kingdoms (described as 10 horns of the fourth beast in Daniel 7:7)

 “Ten kingdoms”

  • The ten kingdoms were:  Saxons(English), Franks(French), Alemani(German), Burgundians(Swiss), Lombards(Italian), Visigots(Spanish), Swevi(Portugese), Vandals, Ostrogoths, and Heruli.
  • The Vandals, Ostrogoths and Heruli no longer exist today.  These are the three horns destroyed by the little horn(Daniel 7, 8, & 24).

Daniel 2:42

“And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.”

Daniel 2:42

“partly strong, and partly broken.”

  • Some of these kingdoms would be stronger (England, France)
  • Some of these kingdoms would weaker (Swiss, Portugal)

Daniel 2:43

“And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”

Daniel 2:43

“they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men:”

  • These kingdoms tried to merge through intermarriage

“but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”

  • These intermarriages failed to unite these kingdoms
  • Also attempts to unite these kingdoms through wars failed

Daniel 2:44

“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

Daniel 2:44

“And in the days of these kings”

  • During the days of these ten kingdoms God would set up His kingdom

“shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:”

  • God’s kingdom would be forever

“shall not be left to other people”

  • God’s kingdom will not be inherited and passed on to heirs because it will go on forever

“but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

  • God’s kingdom will destroy all of these kingdoms
  • God’s kingdom will stand forever

Daniel 2:45

“Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.”

Daniel 2:45

“that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands,”

  • This stone was not of human origin
  • This stone was of divine origin

“that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold;”

  • This stone would destroy all of the prior kingdoms forever

“the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter:”

  • Daniel does not take any credit for this
  • Daniel points the king to God

“the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.”

  • Daniel has no doubt regarding the interpretation

Daniel 2:46

“Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.”

Daniel 2:46

“Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel,”

  • The king realized that this interpretation was correct and that no man could do this (his experts had told him that)
  • He now makes a human mistake and worships the messenger and not the sender!
  • There is no evidence that Daniel accepted this worship

“and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.”

  • Offer an oblation: this means offering
  • Sweet odours unto him: means incense
  • There is no evidence that Daniel accepted this worship

Daniel 2:47

“The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.”

Daniel 2:47

“Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods,”

  • Better translation “God of Gods” meaning God over all gods

“Lord of kings,”

  • This was a title applied to Marduk

“a revealer of secrets,”

  • God was the only One who could reveal the future since He is the only One who can read our minds (Satan can not)

Daniel 2:48

“Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.”

Daniel 2:48

“the king made Daniel a great man,”

  • This means that the king promoted Daniel

“gave him many great gifts,”

  • Daniel apparently accepted these gifts but did not accept his grandson’s gifts (see Daniel 5:17)

“made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon,”

  • Daniel became the provinces ruler

“and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.”

  • Daniel became the governor of all the wise men
  • Daniel was made “master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers” (Dan. 5:11)

Daniel 2:49

“Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.”

Daniel 2:49

“Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon:”

  • Daniel did not forget his friends
  • All three were promoted to positions of authority in Babylon which may explain why they were singled out in the next chapter

“but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.”

  • Daniel chose to remain in the palace with the king

Summary

  • Daniel chapter two tells the story of king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of an image which he could not remember
  • The king’s wise men could not tell him the dream  and the king was going to kill all of them
  • Daniel found out about the death decree after it had been made and asked for a chance to explain the dream
  • Daniel immediately went to his friends and they all went to God for help
  • God answered them and Daniel then explained the dream to the king
  • The image represented the world’s history from Daniel’s day to the end of time
  • The first kingdom was Babylon (head of gold) 605-538 B.C.
  • The second kingdom was Medo-Persia (breast and arms of silver) 538-331 B.C. (see Daniel 8:20)
  • The third kingdom was Greece (belly and thighs of brass) 331-168 B.C. (see Daniel 8:21)
  • The fourth kingdom was Rome (legs of iron) 168 B.C.- 476 A.D.
  • The final ten kingdoms (feet and toes of iron and clay) represented the ten divisions of the Roman empire seven of which exist today: 476  A. D. to present
  • The stone which turned into a mountain represents God’s final kingdom which will come during the time of the 10 kingdoms and destroy them
  • This prophecy is the first of four prophecies in the book of Daniel that will cover world history from Daniel’s day to the end of time
  • Each successive prophecy will add additional information about world events during these same time periods
  • We are living in the time of the toes of this image and the Rock is soon to come

Daniel Chapter 2
