eMrE & Myself

A quick sketch of bio:

Born in Izmir, Turkey in 1983, Emre completed his middle school education in Bornova Anatolian High School and high school education later in Izmir Science High School in 2001. He has obtained a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey in 2005. Soon after, he joined Department of Computer Engineering at Koc University (KU) in Istanbul, Turkey as a teaching and research assistant affilated with Computational Systems Biology Group (COSBI) . Having defended his masters thesis titled "Large Scale characterization of Protein Interactions: Identification of Hot Spots and Spatial Motifs in Protein-Protein Interfaces" in 2007, now, he continues his studies on computational structural biology in Structural Bioinformatics Laboratory (SBL) at the Research Group on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) in the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) - Municipal Institute for Medical Research (IMIM) in Barcelona, Spain.

He has embraced Platon's idea on the remembrance of knowledge that has been forgotten just before birth. In this way of reasoning he believes that with adequate practice and effort one can intuit every single element of interrogation. Whereas, he does distinguish on the possible ways of yielding to this intuition and appreciates that there are distinct paths with various level of easiness to reach uniquely common wisdom in consideration.

A totally amateur cross-country skier, an elder life guard who swam the Boshpours from one side to another, he, who went paragliding once and experienced beauty of scuba diving a few times, also enjoys practicing clarinet and baglama when he is not wandering around and wondering about or reading an exciting book --an activity he rarely utilizes his time.
