DIY Invites

I fell in love with the Pocket Fold Invites... but decided to do them myself as I cannot fathom paying >$400 for invitations.  Samples below from customers at Cards and Pockets.

While reading Weddingbee.com, I stumbled upon the magic of Gocco.  What is a Gocco?  It's a tabletop silk-screen system with a print area of about 3.5" x 5".  While we had some challenges and mishaps, I am pretty happy with the results.

I selected an image from istockphoto.com and downloaded it (after paying for it!) onto my computer.  Honestly, the hardest part of this was selecting the design to use.

Since I don't have Adobe Ilustrator, and I was enchanted by the Gocco, I made a photocopy of this image to use on the Gocco.

I played around with the "Mask" feature on my Mac to take pieces of the design and apply them onto all the insert pages.

After Gocco-ing the design and Titles for the Invitation inserts, I printed them on my now-trusty Canon Ink Jet printer.  In retrospect, I think I probably should have Gocco'd the text too.  Ah well.  I even (GASP- the horror!) printed the addresses on the outer invitation envelopes and RSVP cards.  Trust me- it looked way better than if I handwrote them.

After a couple of attempts with my newly-purchased Rotary Cutter, I gave up and took the inserts to Kinkos to get cut.  Well worth the 5 bucks.

We then started the assembly process, using double-sided tape.

For the closure, FI cut 2" squares out of coordinating ivory cardstock, Gocco'd a "C" in Old English font, and applied to the purchased 225" Tiffany Square.  I put a larger piece of tape on the left side of the pocketfolder and a much smaller piece on the right side, so that our guests could open and close the folder.
After all that hard work, I couldn't imagine using an ugly $1 stamp, so I spring for custom stamps from Endicia.  Note that this company was one of the few that offered a $1 stamp option.

OOT Bags

I ordered one bag from Cheat Totes.com, but it was significantly smaller than the dimensions advertised.

So, I gave up on them and ordered 3 sets of 10 bags from Dunwoody Booth.  Turnaround time was great and I love the bags.  They have a few different options- canvas, paper, etc.  These are made from recycled material and able to be used again, warming the tree-hugger part of my heart.  We went with the circle bag on the right- it was a perfect fit with our color scheme!

Now, what to put in the bags?
