 Where in Emmett?
There aren't alot of options now are there!  We needed to avoid train tracks because they go through at all hours of the day.  The route starts on a little side street - Mechanic which is off Main Street - right across from the Post Office (West of Main).  The course is paved and some gravel- it goes up Washington St.  to Burt Road- head West on Burt Road to Keegan Rd; and loop back.  It is a flat country road - if time is your issue this is a great route- its super straight and flat.

Where is Emmett?
Off I-69 West of Port Huron about 18 miles.  We are a village of almost 300 people!  And everytime we go to an area race - I am amazed at the number of people from Emmett and its suburbs that participate in running- so this is to show that the people of Emmett are onto some healthier activities than they might be known for.

How do I register?
Simply email colleenk@firststep.net and tell her who's coming, and you will be emailed back a PDF file to print and fill out you can email or fax it back - info will be on the form.    We do not want money ahead of time- we'll collect your donation that a.m.  You can also print a PDF here from the main page.  If its not up right now it will be shortly.  Everyone must sign a registration and waiver form.

How old do you have to be?
Old enough to run a mile or 5k- actually not even- strollers are welcome- but keep in mind there is a portion of the route that is gravel - but a jogging stroller should have no problem.

What do I get?
Its no frills, but everyone will get a race keepsake, refreshments, we have an awesome Master of Ceremonies, and we will be giving prizes to each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd M/F overall for both races and 1t, 2nd, 3rd overall under age 12 M/F for both races.

We will be offering t-shirts for $10.00.  There will be a limited number printed because of budgeting so if you want one please email to reserve- if you don't pick it up and pay by 11:50 am it will be put up for sale.  to guarantee you can send you t-shirt money and registration in to Emmett Race, PO Box 141, Emmett, MI 48022- checks payable to Emmett's Day Fund.
Can I help out?
YES!  We need a number of volunteers the morning of- last year we had a fabulous group - and I hope they come back but extra help is needed in these areas:  set up, refreshments, registration, someone to collect bib tags, people to ride golf carts behind runners, course marshalls, water station half way on route, etc.  If there is something here you're interested in just email colleenk@firststep.net  and we'll count you in.  If you want to run and also help out - you can help set up - it takes a while to set up signs, the chute, the microphone, music, etc. and you can still run.

Who's putting this on?
The Emmett Day Committee is the sponsor of the event.  The Scrapbook Inn Bed and Breakfast is allowing us to set up for registration and refreshments - please check out this amazing place!  Keegan Hay is a behind the scenes sponsor and provides the straw bales.  Kinetico Water donated water last year, the fire dept will be there for your safety, last year Tom Pemberton of the Yale Cross Country saved the day with his help, we had great volunteers, the Irish American Club offered some marketing on their web site, Jack Donnellon donated just picked apples.  Its a community event for sure.
