Now for a little bit about the face behind the drawings!
My name is Emily Foden, and I am a student on the East Coast of the United States.
I have an unabiding love for animals, of course, and have had a rather ragtag assortment of pets throughout my life, most of which my mother can blame for her grey hair. Despite their misbehavior, I like to think my family has not been too badly damaged by the parade of insects, mammals, and the occasional unwelcome reptile that I enthusiastically welcomed into our house.
Currently, my inspiration (and occasional frustration) is entirely motivated by three dogs.
Liberty (also known as "Bug," "King," and "LIBERTYQUIET") is the boss, despite his diminutive stature. He is an 8-year-old Coton de Tulear who has never met a couch he didn't like. He has a large bubble of personal space, which has been growing in size since he turned 1. Currently, he alerts us when anyone in a 100-mile-radius rolls over in bed.
Bailey (also known as "Bails," "Bay," "Mutt," and "OHGODBAILEYGETTHATOUTOFYOURMOUTHRIGHTNOW!") is Liberty's sidekick. He's a 4-5 year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, with all the empathy of a derailed freight train. We are exceedingly proud of his progress though, because he began as a dog who routinely bit and drew blood. But with a little structure and training, he is now a model citizen (well, almost).
Mammoth (also known as "Clancy" [which was his original name], "Big Dog," and "Ugh...what is that smell?") is the newest addition to our pack. He is a 11-13 year-old German Shepherd/Collie mix, and was an accidental rescue. We fostered him with the intention of eventually getting him adopted out, but as we stopped taking him to adoption events and hung up on prospective adopters when they called, we began to reconsider. He is completely blind in both eyes, and has been since puppyhood.
