The persimmon has stiff, broad leaves, and it bears small fruit.  The American Persimmon, native to southeastern U.S., grows to be about 20 meters (65 ft) tall, and the fruit size varies from about 2-6 centimeters.  It has a short, slender trunk, spread branches, and oval-shaped leaves.  The persimmon tree’s fruit is popular in desserts, and is high in Vitamin C.  The trees roots stabilize the soil around it and prevent erosion.

The Persimmon tree is best grown in light, sandy, well-drained soil.  However, it will grow in rich, dark soil, but the height of the tree will be diminished slightly.
