Biography
 

          Jay Lindsay is a composer and organist residing in New Haven, CT.  He has a B.Mus. from the Hartt School and a M.Mus. from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD.  He has studied composition with Stephen Gryc and Nicholas Maw and organ with Larry Allen and Donald Sutherland.  His compositions include pieces for full orchestra, wind ensemble, choir, and various solo instruments and chamber ensembles.  His works have been performed and recorded throughout the east coast. 

            Jay has served as an organist and music director at churches throughout New York, Maryland and Connecticut.  Since 2005, he has been serving as the music director at St. Augustine's Church in Seymour, CT where he plays the organ and directs the adult and youth choirs.  Jay is the accompanist and assistant conductor of Composer's Choir, a semi-professional choir dedicated to performing and recording the works of living composers. 

          An avid performer, Jay has given many solo performances on organ, harpsichord and piano.  In 2006, he founded Elm City Music, a piano studio where he teaches students of all ages and skill levels.  He is currently the dean for the New Haven chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
