My child is under 6 years old - can he still learn to play tennis?

Of course!  We have children as young as 4 years old in some coaching sessions.  Please contact us for more information as to which session would be the most appropriate.

Do I need a tennis racquet?

We can provide racquets but if you wish to purchase your own they are available from most sports stores and can cost as little as £5.  Junior racquets are available in several sizes: 19", 21", 23", 25",  and 26". For children of 8 and under playing mini red tennis, a racquet of 23" or under is recommended.  For 8-9 years olds (mini orange) 23"-25" is recommended.  For 10 year olds and above, larger racquets are more appropriate.

Can I have an individual session in addition to group sessions?

This can be arranged though speaking to Monica.  Please contact us for more information.

How much does it cost to become a member of Ellesmere Port CTC?

Why do I need a British Tennis number?

You will need your BTM number to enter tournaments.  You will then be able to view the matches that you have played, and your results, online.  You will be notified of a change in your rating or ranking and will also receive monthly updates from British Tennis.

How do I get my British Tennis number?

You can join British Tennis by phone (within minutes), online or by post.  It may take a few weeks for your British Tennis Membership Pack to arrive, but if you register by phone you can get your Membership number immediately.  Membership of British Tennis costs nothing for juniors. Click here for more information.

How do I find out my rating / ranking?

If you go to the LTA website and fill in your name, you will find out your current rating/ranking and recent competitions that you have played.  If you are 11 or older you can compare your ranking to that of others within the same age group, in your county, or nationally.  To do this, click on http://www2.lta.org.uk/Search/LTARankings/  select your age group and gender, then search!

My child just broke a string on her racquet - where can we get it restrung?

We are able to offer a stringing and grip service for tennis and badminton racquets.  Prices start from £10 for a tennis racquet restring.  For further advice, please call Charlie Newis on 07795 265410.
