A challenging aspect of my life has been putting business infrastructure around my unusual career. Though my prior business experience contributed to my
success attracting clients, students, business partners and referral
resources, I knew there was more business success to be had. In 2010, I began seeking a success formula that will allow savvy, organized and stable master practitioners to enjoy a thriving business. A business that provides full-time work at an excellent salary with benefits. Benefits such as: health insurance, a retirement account, an emergency savings fund, money for business growth and career development. Not to mention some of life's luxuries. My quest led to many observations and insights. I noticed that most folks who pursue a career in natural health or metaphysics follow what I call the "Practitioner Business Model". Which goes something like this: study X (x = the modality), master X, practice X and advertise that you've mastered and practice X. While this business model works well for some, it works poorly for many. Since I began practicing Reiki with Angels in 2004, I observed a huge gap between the super successful at the top of the field and the majority of people, at the bottom, struggling to attract enough clients or students to have a healthy business. After much consideration, one day I got it. I realized an obvious truth to expanding an unusual business (or any business for that matter)... it is to become a highly recognized expert in your field. I call it the "Expert Business Model". I'll share more of my thoughts about the EBM in the blog. In the meantime, I provide the following resources to help those who follow a similar career path find quality products, services and professionals to work with. None of the links are listed because I receive money or services to do so. While I recommend these services, I cannot be held responsible for your choice to do business with them or resolving a dispute, should one occur. |
