POINTS SYSTEM
We have two point systems with awards for the children in both systems at the end of the season. They are CHAMPIONSHIP points and IMPROVEMENT points. We run both systems hoping to encourage those athletes striving for personal improvement as well as to those with greater athletic ability.
CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS
Each event participated in gives athletes 10 points. If athletes improve on their performance in the event they recieve 10 points or equalling a personnal best is 5 points. Finally they recieve a percentage points compared to state qualifying. These points are recorded and tallied at the end of the season and this determines whom the Championship winners are for the following categories:
Trophies are presented to each registered athlete and every athlete will recieve a trophy if they qualify. To qualify for a trophy an athlete must have competed in a minimum of 50% of events allocated at each meet. An athlete must also attend at least 7 meets before Christmas and 5 meets after. The ELAC committee may review border line cases or athletes not able to meet these requirments due to hardship.
IMPROVEMENT POINTS
Athletes are awarded 10 points every time they improve their personal best. These points are recored and tallied and a trophy presented for each athlete (male and female) with the most points in the following categories:
