Bring a Friend Day 2012

posted Jan 1, 2012 4:10 PM by Brad Wilson   [ updated May 17, 2012 12:43 AM by ELAC Elizabeth LAC ]

This Sunday, Jan 8, is Bring a Friend Day.

All Athletes can invite a friend to come along and enjoy a day at Elizabeth Little Athletics.  Your friend can be anyone at all, young or old (although it's cruel to try to make Grandma run a lap of the track!).  Bring a school friend or someone from your cricket club (or tennis or footy etc) and you never know, you might get them interested in athletics.

Jan 8 is also the return to full competition for the season, so points count.  See you there
.

Happy Break

Happy Holiday to all

To all members and families we wish all a happy holiday and have a great time with family and friends, we will see you in the new year and start the serious side of the program. Lots of competition to happen and good luck to all.

Elizabeth Little Athletics is going strong

To all that are concerned about the recent announcement in the local messenger about the Elizabeth Athletics Club being forced to merge if their numbers aren't increased. This is not our club. The Seniors Elizabeth Athletics runs out of the same premises. They are a seperate entity to Elizabeth Little Athletics. Ideally we want members to seek out Seniors as they progress along and define what they are interested in. Remember that you can be a member of both Little Athletics and Seniors once you are 14 years of age.

Elizabeth Little Athletics is in good shape and we are more that willing to assist the seniors in every way possible, they are a really great bunch of athletes and to watch them train is a work of art.

Training

posted Sep 9, 2011 7:38 PM by Brad Wilson   [ updated Jan 9, 2012 7:32 PM by ELAC Elizabeth LAC ]

Elizabeth Little Athletics is taking training more seriously this season.  For the Under 9s and older groups, there will be 1 club point awarded for training attendance each week.  If you attend at least one training night you will receive the double benefit of improving your performance and that extra point towards your season results.  There is only one point available per week, so you don't get double points for attending both training sessions - but you should do both if you can.

This is as close as we can get to making training compulsory.  Compulsory training is a feature of most other sports - if you don't train, you don't play a full game.  We don't want to stop our Athletes from competing at any event just because they didn't train - that wouldn't be fair.  But we do want to make sure that our Athletes achieve their potential and get opportunities to compete at higher levels.  Training is the best way to achieve these goals.

Check the
Meet and Training Times page.

2011/12 Season Start

posted Sep 9, 2011 7:23 PM by Brad Wilson   [ updated Jan 9, 2012 7:32 PM by ELAC Elizabeth LAC ]

Season start is Sunday October 2nd.  This is a full Home Meet at Duncan Anderson Reserve, Trimmer Road, Elizabeth Vale.  Yes, it's the long weekend.

There are no standalone Come & Try days this season.  Anyone can Come & Try at any of our Home Meets.  Anyone who is interested in checking out Elizabeth Little Athletics is welcome to come down and participate in the normal programme for their age group for $5.  If you join up afterwards, your Come & Try payment and results count to the season membership and results.

The season fees, programme, roster, standard events, committee etc pages have all been updated, so check them out for the information you need.  The good news is that there has been no change to fees for this season.
