We're using Dianne Rockwell, a.k.a. "The Cake Lady," for our wedding cake. Dianne is a very talented baker who started her own business while she was still living at home and has truly perfected the art of both baking and decorating. Her cakes are delicious and absolute works of art. She doesn't use fondant except for certain details; instead she has learned how to smooth buttercream so perfectly that it looks as smooth as fondant... but of course it tastes SO much better. After meeting her we knew we had to have her do our cake. We knew our cake would be gorgeous and delicious, and we knew that if we had to pay a ton of money for a cake, we wanted it to go to this talented, creative, lovely person. And she's based in Lancaster, MA, so it will be easy for her to deliver the cake to the reception site - something I certainly did not want to mess with! The picture on the left is the design that we'll be using. But we'll be using the colors from the middle picture. The picture on the right is a sketch that James did of our wedding cake, including a perspective of the interior. (I love my little architect!) The top layer will be half yellow, half lemon, with rasberry filling and pink buttercream icing. The bottom layer will be half yellow, half chocolate, with chocolate buttercream filling and icing. |
