Hello from ELF CO-OPERATIVE
This is a news up-date of the Foreigner & Japanese
happenings in Tachikawa, Japan.
If you want to be removed from this mailing list,
just say so and it shall be done at once.
I use BCC when I email so
your email address is never shown to others.
I have decided that the best thing the ELF CO-OPERATIVE can do in these terrible financial times is to promote and help new entrepreneurs reach their dreams of starting their own business.
I will help by offering the ELF CO-OPERATIVE location as their starting point.
You can help by encouraging and attending any of their Gigs that interest you.
SO HERE WE GO
2009 MARCH
Saturday March 07. 11:15AM,
1000 yen donation or equal from our Barter List.
3rd meeting of the ELF FOREX group. Headed by Mark Henne.
ELF CO-OPERATIVE was originally intended solely as a meeting place for those interested in Currency Trading. By the end of the second meeting it was obvious that ELF was destined to be much more. Before we knew it, the one hour meeting was in its sixth hour and the topics had ranged all through the currency markets, commodities, paintings, drawings, world politics and spaghetti.
Those of you who are in a hurry to open a FX account, Slow down, take a moment and choose a good company with a good trading platform.
Now is NOT the time to start trading.
2009-01-21 was the perfect time to start trading dollar/yen.
But there is a good chance that another excellent start time will avail itself within the next 30 days. Just after the close of the Japanese business year on April 01.
Those who are ready can make a nice safe profit from the dip.
Newcomers will be met at Tachikawa Station's North Exit,
at the map&information monument located under the big blue double arch,
at 11:00AM. ELF is a 5 minute walk from the station.
Please do not be late it is to cold to stand there waiting.
We start walking at 11:05
There are 2 maps to ELF at the ELF Web site

4th meeting of the ELF FOREX group. Headed by Mark Henne.
We will discuss SAFETY, current trends, news and technicals.
No one seems to know or tell how and when you can trade FOREX with 100% safety, so I figured it out for myself. Turned out to be quite easy and reasonable.
The information is available to all members of ELF at any time.

5th meeting of the ELF FOREX group headed by Mark Aubrey Henne
During this meeting I would like to hear of bad experiences people have had at Brokerage Houses and Trading Companies in Japan.
We understand that some places are charging fees of 15,000 yen per trade and 10 pips, this is ridiculous for something you can get for no fees and 3 pips.
If you know of any "BUCKET SHOPS" and rip off trading companies come and tell us about them. Bring your written gripes and we will mount them on the wall to warn other traders.
Newcomers will be met at Tachikawa Station's North Exit, at the map&information monument located under the big blue double arch, at 11:00 AM. ELF is a 5 minute walk from the station.
Saturday March 28 NO FOREX group this week Mark will be attending the Yokohama Bead Art Show.

6th meeting of the ELF FOREX group headed by Mark Aubrey Henne
Time to start practicing
During this meeting I would like to see that everyone has two practice accounts. One practice account for seriously showing yourself you can do it. The second practice account to goof off and make wild bets to convince yourself that betting is a stupid way to work to FOREX.
I will be checking to see that everyone understands how to trade FOREX with 100% safety and how to chose your own safety level if you wish to work at less than 100% safety. Those of you who are already doing FOREX and find yourself facing disaster because you did not know what you were doing come on over and we will see if we can save you.
Newcomers will be met at Tachikawa Station's North Exit, at the map&information monument located under the big blue double arch, at 11:00 AM. ELF is a 5 minute walk from the station.

7th meeting of the ELF FOREX group headed by Mark Aubrey Henne
Since ELF members come from all over the world, inside views of what is happening in home towns gives us a much feel for Earth's real situation. This is a much better understanding of the fundamentals than what the talking heads are babbling about.
We will look at the Christmas tree idea to pick up profits from spikes and dips, with a hard view of safety when making such a trade.
Sunday April 19, 6PM to 11PM,
6000 yen Special.
ELF Visiting Chef, Alessandra Faria will be cooking Fusion.
Chef Alessandra has chosen the third Sunday of each month as her evening to cook and present her talent.

Gabriel
Is looking to start an Animators Gig. Once a month to start. If you are interested email back.
Angus White
Deeply impressed me with his landscapes of houses from his travels around the world. I am tempting him to put on a show of his work, he will only be in Japan a few more weeks and it would be a shame to miss.
Yoga
Class/group forming, no date set yet
Massage
Class/group forming, no date set yet, I hope they hurry my back is killing me.
Coming soon.
Bear-Whiskey-Chocolate-Fudge. We have lots of fine Whiskey, does anyone have the recipe to mix Whiskey into fudge? Email me.
Now it is your turn.
There are many dates still available.
Have you always thought "I am an entrepreneur!"
"If only I had the chance, I know I could make it BIG"
OK here is your chance. Your one night/day a month to GO FOR IT!
Email me and write what you have in mind.
It will be your GIG, you mastermind everything.
You provide, perform and clean up.
ELF will not charge anything up front.
AFTER. You and ELF will pay the expenses then split the profits 50/50.
Finances at the ELF CO-OPERATIVE.
Special: Indicates that this Gig is costing the person a considerable investment of their own talent, time, energy and personal money. They are entrepreneurs interested in seeing if they can make a go of their own business. You may be asked for comments and recommendations at the end of the Gig.
Donation or barter from our list.
Donations help pay our bills. We try to keep overhead to a minimum but there are always utilities and the rent.
Rent: 20000 yen/m Fantastically low in Tokyo-to
Electric: 8000 yen/m Ouch, might go down now that the construction is almost done might get bigger if we go 24/7
Internet: 6000 yen/m Ouch again but FOREX waits for no one so we had to go with the fiber-optic and the high speed wi-fi.
Water: 2000 yen/m not bad and tastes good.
Heating: 15000 yen/m tried to do without it..... but burrrrrrrr.
Construction: !?!,?!?,!?! yen, afraid to tally it up. Mark personally built ELF in about a year and did not take the cheap way out. Mark's love of wood and 30 years in engineering & construction pushed the costs of his dream location way higher than anticipated even with all the amazing luck we had along the way. Especially the free rent during the renovation. Membership Donation recommendations
We arbitrarily choose the following membership donation recommendations as they seemed fair and easy.
One day all day: 1000 yen,
Come and go as you like. For those who still work.
One month all month: 10,000 yen,
Heck of a deal if you are a currency trader or just like high speed Internet and can't afford your own.
One year all year: 100,000 yen,
Mark runs ELF by himself at the moment but we hope to build a list of trusted members quickly so we can stay open 24/7.
BARTER List: The trading of goods or services rather than currency.
For those of you out of work or living on the proverbial shoe string.
Can't donate cash? Then please be our eyes and ears.
Here is the list of item donations that ELF CO-OPERATIVE needs and will consider as good as cash donations for all but Special Gigs:
Kitchen:
glasses, coffee mugs, tea cups, plates. glasses, knives, forks, spoons, cooking utensils, dish towels, table cloths. If you are sayonara, or have odds and ends and extras taking up your precious kitchen space we will be glad to come pick them up and give them a good home. Nothing has to match, in-fact the stranger the better. ELF is a very eclectic place. ELF's themes are wood, the arts, movies & acoustic music. Any ceramic students with more interesting pieces than places to put them?
Furniture:
Folding floor chairs, our floor is very soft foam, but us oldies still need a back to lean against. If you find the kind that can stack they are the best.
Zebu-tan floor cushions the more the merrier.
Bean-bag furniture, used, worn or broken OK, I brought a huge bean bag sofa skin that seats 4 for the ELF LOFT but I can't find the Styrofoam beans.
Wicker Hanging basket chair, strong one, we are going to hang it near the ceiling
Electric heating pads and electric blankets.
Carpet for down stairs. 280 cm x 380 cm tan or light brown would be best.
Carpet for the loft. 240 cm x 240 cm soft and deep, a bunch of sheep skin rugs would be ideal. Snoozing in between trades was the idea of the ELF LOFT but the yoga and massage classes have their eye on this warm spot.
Movies:
ELF currently has over
200 VHS movies in English with Japanese subtitles and
300 American DVDs
All our movies are available for free to our members for on-site viewing with our wall projector. We are always looking to add to the ELF Movie collection.
Dreams:
Last but not least, my dream is to find a big electric massage chair or two, for use by all ELF members. 30 years of heavy construction tore up my back and knees. Skills:
Got "none of the above"?
Then how about trading your brains and skilled touch.
ITs,
ELF web-site needs improvement.
Accounting/Book keeping,
Always need your help, nothing major yet but ELF is growing and a good start will keep us in line and growing strong.
Artists:
ELF has blank walls that need your inspirational touch. Outdoor scenes that make the walls move back is what is needed. Optical illusions are encouraged if you know how.
T-Shirts. We are looking for artists to design ELF, BEAR and FOREX Logos and items.
Wood Carvers, ELF would like to include a selection of walking sticks and whittlings for sale on the ELF web site. The fancier the better. You can whittle on site.
Whittling, a hobby for some, an obsession for others.
I have access to large crystals that need to be incorporated into walking sticks.
If I find an expert, I have some choice hard wood needs to be brought to life.
Writers, translators, linguistic masters, graphic artists. Your talents are always needed. Metropolis barely makes it out to Tachikawa. Looks like we may need to start our own magazine. In fact this news letter started to feel like a magazine as I wrote it, it seemed to grow on its own.
Prefer to write or illustrate a book? The Elf book of lore takes any character you create into the dangerous world of "Authors" all writing the same book at the same time intermingling at will. Warning this is multidimensional and not for the faint of mind.
Animators, Movie makers, cast and crew. The ELF Movie needs to be made and kept ever improving. ELF will also need a documentary to show the CO-OPERATIVE from the start. Elf can be a movie set, We have permission to use a second location near by that is a forest and garden of about 100 meters by 50 meters.
Entrepreneur's Dream
The 48 hour Film Project based in the USA has offered ELF the full Japanese franchise to run the 48HFP Japan......This is a major entrepreneur's dream looking for a super team of people wanting to make it big internationally.
We have a Hitachi DVD Mini cam and tripod on site.
The Alienware computer on site has Adobe Premier for editing your movies.
Dancers, Singers, Acoustic Musicians. Mix it up with the movie makers.
We have a guitar and violin/fiddle on site.
The Alienware computer on site has Adobe Audition for editing your music.
Sound Light and Video techs, do your magic with the artists.
Doctors, Professors and Business Professionals, Ladies and gentlemen who know how it all works, tell us we are interested.
Our Entrepreneurs need your encouragement, not your discouragement.
Youth Does !
What Age Thinks Is Impossible!
(I think that needs to be on a T-shirt)
Personally I like Cosmology and Physics.
Come and attack my theory of the universe.
If I am wrong, I want to know why.
Chefs
Our kitchen is your start. Reserve a Gig and show yourself and the world what you can do.
Jewelry makers. I am the major importer of Fossil Coral, Petrified Wood and Shells from Indonesia. And if you are really good I have Dinosaur teeth. Entrepreneurs can choose from our huge selection of beautiful cabochons then design and make your pieces. ELF will then show and offer your creations for sale at:
The ELF web site,
The Yokohama, Japan, Bead Art Show in March.
The Seoul, Korea, Gem and Jewelry show at COEX in April,
The Shinjuku, Japan, TIMA Gem and Mineral show in June,
The Shinjuku, Japan, Image Jewelry Show in October,
The Ikebukuro, Japan, Gem and Mineral Show in December.
ELF can also help you set up a a private or joint Gig at ELF to do your own Jewelry Show.
Did we miss anything or anyone? Let me know.
Best of Luck to you All
Mark Aubrey Henne
