External projects and Collaborations

2009-current date

Dr. Swathi Kiran (Boston University). Within the project: “Effect of a semantic based naming treatment on crosslinguistic generalization in bilingual patients with aphasia” I am developing a parallel project: “The processing of clitic pronouns position in bilingual aphasia”. In the current project Spanish-English bilingual aphasic patients are tested with a self paced-reading task in order to investigate sentential processing in bilingual aphasia.

2009-current date

Collaboration with Prof. Mia Bloom (The Pennsylvania State University; International center for the study of terrorism) in the project: "Terrorism in Chechnya and Russian Military responses". The focus of the collaboration lies on developing a linguistic based analysis of the cecen women scripts to determine whether language change mirrors a transition towards religius radicalization.

2003-2008

Collaboration with Evy Visch-Brink of the University of Rotterdam for the creation of the Italian version of BOX (Semantic therapy for aphasic speakers). BOX will be published in Italian by OS Ed. in 2010.

In the course of my PhD appointment I have been teaching some lectures to students at the Master level on neurolinguistics with a focus on aphasiology.


Awards and fellowships

 

2008-2009 Recipient of the ‘Marica De Vincenzi’ fellowship for post-doctoral research at the Pennsylvania State University. Title project: The processing of clitic pronouns in adult L2 learners of Spanish ($33.000).

2007 Prize for the best poster presentation at the National symposium on: “Language and communication disorders: from theory to rehabilitation”. Turin, Italy.

 2003-2007 Recipient of the Ubbo Emmius Ph.D. scholarship of the University of Groningen (full funding for 4 years of research, aprox. €100,000). Title project: Clitic production in Italian agrammatism.

2002 Recipient of the South-Tyrol regional scholarship to pursue MA-level education abroad (full funding of MA-level studies at the University of Groningen).
