The Velvet Seeds used in this collection are from a tree called Majidea Zanquebarica.  The tree is native to Africa and is part of the Sapindaceae or Soapberry family.  The seeds are quite rare - harvested only once annually.

To keep these in good condition, do not submerge in water.  As they age, these seeds will dry out and fade.  To preserve, rub a drop of mineral oil into the fur of the seed and they will return to their original color and texture.
