the story of putting way too much effort into the sissiest bike ever built
Humble beginnings...
I got the bike from VVC college, in which I'm attending, in Victorville CA.
It was donated to the automotive department and had sat there for five or more years.
It barely ran. They had used ATF for two stroke oil. It had a big vacuum leak but the carb was leaking fuel so it kinda canceled each other out until it would heat up.
So I gave the dean the $150 he asked for it. He gave me back $50 about half an hour later saying it's not worth $150. The DMV was a nightmare and had me going back and forth from there to the school. I think on the forth trip they felt bad for me and let me register it without the original owner's signature. I thought it was going to be registered as a motorcycle like all scooters are so I took the M1 test. It wasn't. They told me since that it was originally registered as a moped that they couldn't do anything more than to register it as such. I should of taken the M2 license test, fuck. So I got it running and have been riding it ever since.
Now it goes quite a bit faster than the stock 25mph but doesn't get 110mpg anymore either. Sacrifices sacrifices :)
The mod list is constantly updated.

Here's the mods so far. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
YT60 jug and piston. Beat to hell now.
Champ head.
Ported the cylinder and opened up the exhaust flange opening plus tons of other top secret shit.
Port matched the exhaust header to the cylinder.
Puch Proma GP dimensional exhaust copy.
PW rear gears.
MJ50 2 speed case. Has the left side crank half and case from a qt.Has some internal case work done too.
New All Balls brand main and crank bearings.
New OEM rod.
New OEM big end pin.
New OEM wrist pin.
New OEM roller wrist pin bearing.
Boyesen reeds.
Enlarged the reed block with chanfered bridge. Port matched the intake to it(opened it up a lot).
VM 18 Mikuni carb press fitted then JankB welded to modded intake which has been bored out because that tiny intake is pitiful. building a intake manifold from scratch is on the to do list.
worked over the inside of the case for better flow.
UNI filter from a CRF 50
Polished right side case cover.
Oil pump delete.(going back on sometime soon)
Throttle control mod so the VM would open all the way.
H4 12volt headlight mod with 12volt lights all the way around.
Battery delete. Regulator delete.
GPS synced bicycle speedometer sensing from the rear wheel.
3 axis hp meter. All but worthless. I have to do a 1/4 mile pass to read the results.
PW right side swing arm and second shock mount tapped.
Lengthened rear shocks for pipe to ground clearance. Running three shocks but only one spring. Super sticky.
Foot peg relocation.
Swapped brake controls to left lever front brake, right lever rear brake.
Duct taped seat or skateboard deck. Whatever I'm in the mood for.
80cc dirt bike forks and axle.

So here is kind of an old picture I took in summer of 09. That's the pipe I built for it last time. 120 relief cuts to get those curves. WHAT A FUCKING NIGHTMARE! Something must of been amiss in my calcs because it was just way too long though it did rip on the low end. Here's a picture of me racing at Grange. I'm trying to build it up so next year I can take the non-variated open... dreams....
This is a short video of my gang, The Two Wheeled Turtles. It's my cellphone taped to my Qt's handlebars.

From left to right. Me(Ryan) with my Yamaha QT50 Yamahopper, Art with one of his super clean Puch Maxis, Sam with one of his Peugeot 103 U3's, Curt with one of his Solo Odysseys though he just got a PA50II. (update: I bought it from him)

April 30th 2010:
So I'm building a new pipe and I want this to be the last one for a while. I want it to flow something fierce but the damn bike sits too low to the ground. So I built some shock extensions.

But now my kickstand is useless so I needed to build an adjustable stand.

Then I got carried away and built in a shit ton more rebound dampening.

I haven't taken it out for a spin yet. It maybe too much.

The total amount of rubber mounts on this bike is pissing me off. You can't hardly feel the dampening affect through them. The rubber mounts act as springs with no way to dampen them. Time for metal inserts.

The "Monster pipe". It's a dimensional copy of a Puch Proma GP.

I also slightly ported the cylinder and enlarged the exhaust runner. It's really hard to tell but this next pic is both the head and the exhaust header's flange bolted together and port matched. Putting it another way, this is a picture of two different pieces of metal.

I got these forks from some 80cc 2 stroke pitbike, or maybe it was a 150cc four stroke. I don't know I just bought the entire frame minus the engine. I cut out the original stem from the lower triple. I cut out a stem from a extra set of qt forks and with a bit of massaging made it a press fit into the lower triple that I flipped upside down to give a little more wheel clearance. In this way I can use the stock qt neck bearings and don't have to modify the neck. I then drilled out the stock qt hub and all the spacers and installed the stock 80cc hub's bearings. I have to shim everything up but it's almost ready to install. Now I need a spacer to be machined for the disc and a hydraulic lever/master for it.

Got it on. No brakes yet. I am having issues with the geometry specifically the rake and offset.

So it's been a minute since I last updated. Here's how she sits right now. (May 27th 2010)

I made some copies of the front fender mounts out of aluminum so I could put it back on. They are adjustable so I can rotate the front fender in any position. I think I'm going to take my extra fenders and cut them short and put them on and see how they look but that's just cosmetic BS. I only want the fenders on so cops don't take too long of looks at it, though the seat doesn't help in that matter. I have to trim the seat narrower so it doesn't cut into the sides of my legs and the upholster it. I also cut a bunch of the stinger off because this engine runs way too hot.
Oh and here's a picture of Sam

I got this bike yesterday
Its a yami champ. I got it and another frame with forks for $25. It's got a two speed engine that I can use for a spare so now I have this motor and my original one speed plus enough parts to put together two more one speeds. It turns over freely and has good compression. The head has bigger fins so I put the head on the qt. The rear end is spaced farther from the driveshaft to allow the use of a wider tire but as a result the whole engine was move to the left. A good thing considering how right side heavy the two speed motors are. I'll probably end up using that rear end when I do the next round of frame mods. So in this way my engine will sit about an inch and a half to the left giving a better balance for the new pipe(s) that I have in mind :P Right now I'm golfballing my cylinder and porting it and top secret yadda yadda yadda. so I'll have to wait to see how well that head works.

Yesterday Curt wanted me to get the champ running so only after less than an hour it did. It's missing half of it's electronics so we hot wired it. It was missing the controller box, rectifier, regulator, ignition basically everything except the cdi and coil(that we had to replace because it was junk). Just for anyone's info:to hot wire bridge( H ) the white and black wires ( I I )coming from the engine. Don't cut, just strip each wire's insulation in the middle and bridge together.

Haven't posted in a minute. Swapped my motor after finding bits of intake in my old engine. Made a gasket/scoop/heatsink for the bike. Running the champ head and the vm12. Here it is.

The day before yesterday we went down the hill to find Em a bike. Bought it and had it running in a few hours. She's so happy she just had to pose with it. So sexy and Em's pretty cute too.
