New Product - Building Veneer
Building
veneer is a product line that historically was created on site by the
stone mason from raw materials. This required significant tools and
craftsmanship to accomplish. We at Praxis Rock Art have decided that
there must be a better way to accomplish the look of real blue stone
while reducing the on site labor by preparing standard pattern stone
veneer in our shop. This greatly reduces the on site labor and tools
necessary to do an installation.
Standard
pattern stones from our shop are cut in 4” increments on a diamond
bridge saw so that the stone can easily be laid tight without need
for a mortar joint. This greatly reduces the time and labor
necessary for installation. Each stone his hand “Rocked” on all
sides to a thickness of 1.5” so that the stones have a textured
face and meet each other at edges of same thickness.
Since
our veneer is cut from the same stone from which we build dry walls,
patios, and stair cases the color of our veneer matches the color of
these other installations. All our stone is Lower “Devonian Sand
Stone” quarried in southern New York State and as such is local
product which can always be matched for additional installations.
Since
the weight of the product is less than 15 lb. sq. ft. it does not require a masonry ledge for installation and
can be installed on either wood (with wire mesh) or masonry walls.
This same material can be used in either indoor or outdoor
applications. Because of the easy installation it can be installed by a non-mason contractor or a handy home owner. An installation video is in preparation.
