YoungSentinel.com was founded by Eyck Freymann in August 2007 to provide a medium through which young people could learn and communicate with each other about politics and current events. It allows people, especially those under voting age, ability to express their political opinions for an internet audience, all with a progressive tilt. The Young Sentinel now has seven student contributors in four states around the country.

It was featured in a Februrary Associated Press article entitled Kids Catch Political Fever about kids involved in politics.

Young Sentinel has partnered with Duncan Hosie's Tomorrow Starts Today campaign to increase youth awareness and political participation. It endorsed Barack Obama for President.
