Each year the U.S. embassy and prominent Turkish institutions join together to sponsor educational conferences across Turkey.  These conferences are an opportunity for seasoned teachers, new teachers, and teachers in training to come together to share ideas and methods and to develop themselves professionally. Conference registration fees, cost of materials, and lunches during the conference are paid for all qualified participants. For those presenting at the conference or wishing to stay the following week and put their skills to work during the English Language Summer Camp (June 23-27), accomodation will also be provided.

This year our core themes will be teaching English with technology and creating learner-centered classrooms.

Dr. Craig Dicker, Acting Cultural Affairs Officer and seasoned ESL professional, will be presenting various workshops such as Drama Techniques and Language Teaching, as well as Oral Proficiency Testing, and Using Music in the Classroom.

Have you ever wondered what a wiki or a blog is?  How about online groups and podcasts?  Furthermore, how can we use these tools to help our students become autonomous and efficient learners?  Melanie Brooks, English Language Fellow and veteran of online course development, will help you to be able to use these technologies with confidence and begin to implement Internet-based projects in your classroom.

Dokuz Eylül University has generously donated space; all workshops will take place on the Education Faculty in Buca, Izmir.  If you are interested in being part of this conference, please click the link above to register. In the event of limited space, preference will be given to registrants who will present or who would like to work the following week at the English Language Summer Camp.
