PUTTING THE BALL IN PLAY

The new emphasis (from last fall) is that a player has to clearly make a point to put the ball in play.  No more does a simple “water polo move” put the ball in play.

A player has to do one of the following:

·         Pop the ball (clear separation between ball and hand)

·         Drop the ball (again clear separation)

·         Pass the ball

·         Shoot the ball

Nothing else constitutes putting the ball in play.  If a player is awarded a foul and they start swimming with the ball, then it is an automatic turnover.

This should be applied to all players in the pool (including goal keepers).

Water polo is officially in the State Games of Michigan for 2012. Registration is now open for both BOYS AND GIRLS!!! There are two age groups, 18 and under and 16 and under for each boys and girls. The age is determined by the start date of competition which is June 22nd. I have received a few questions about the registration process so I thought I would send out an email to help clarify.
   * Go to www.stategamesofmichigan.com
   * Click the sports link on the top right side of the page
   * Here you will see a list of all the sporting events offered in 2012, scroll down until you see Water Polo
   * Or Click Here

   * Register Now!
   * New Users must create a new log in, just follow the directions

   * First Register a team with a team name
   * I suggest Team Gender Age, example: EGR Boys 16u
   * You will have to do this for each of your age groups as you will later find out
   * Once you have created your team, you can register an individual. Click New Member on the roster
   * Enter an email address for your athlete and continue with the rest of their information
   * Click Submit when you are done and repeat until your roster is completed. Make sure that you enter their age as this will later determine which events, and age groups, you can sign up for
   * Once your roster is completed click Register Team
   * Here you will see who is registered for your team

   * Depending on the ages and genders you entered you will be able to select the event which they can participate in.
   * Continue with the rest of the registration process and payment
We have found out one bug so far. If you register and pay but have not added any athletes it will not let you add them even though it says you can. As of right now, if you need to register, please add the athletes right away. If you have already registered but still need to add them, I will talk to the necessary people to get this bug fixed.

If you have any questions feel free to email me, or call/text me.
