  • 5th Grade Band Registration 1.    Get an instrument   There are three main methods of getting an instrument for band.   • Honor Band Camp August 6-10 The third annual Emily G. Johns Honor Band camp will take place August 6-10 from 8:30-12:00 at EGJ.  It is open to any student that participated in band at EGJ during the 2011-2012 school year.  The cost is $40 per student payable by cash or check to EGJ by May 25.  You may also contact me during the summer if you still wish to participate.  The students will spend the week learning fun and challenging music with their friends, playing games, and working in large and small groups with the Plano band directors.  Mrs. Scarborough will work with woodwinds, Ms. Webb with brass, and Mr. McCammon with percussion.  Each day consists of full ensemble rehearsal ...

  • Memorial Day Ceremony The sixth grade band will be joining the middle school band for the Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 28.  The students will be performing in the Little Rock Township Cemetery at 11:00am.  Students should arrive by 10:20 and should plan to be picked up by 11:30.  Dress for the event is the provided T shirt and nice pants.  Shorts will be acceptable as long as they not shredded or too short for girls.    This performance is required but it is understood that many families travel on Memorial Day weekend.  Please make sure to contact Mr. McCammon in writing at least one week before the performance to be excused.  Students that are absent will still need to ...

  • New recordings posted Recordings of all of your pieces for the May 1 concert at Plano High School are now posted, except "Taking My Walrus for a Walk."  I hope you are as excited about these pieces as I am.  It will be an incredible concert!  5th grade:  Chronicles, Taking My Walrus for a Walk, Ancient Hunters6th grade:  March from First Suite for Military Band, A Canadian Ballad, Morpheus

  • 6th graders to join High School Pep Band Feb. 7 The sixth grade band will be joining the high school pep band for a basketball game against Peotone on Tuesday, February 7Students should arrive at 6:00 and report the the auditorium at Plano High School.  The students should wear Plano shirts or purple to show their support for the team.  We will be done around 8:15. This is a great event for everyone.  The kids get to play with the awesome high school band and watch a free basketball game.  Score.I am looking for a few parent volunteers to help chaperone the event.  If you are interested and available, please contact me here: https://sites.google.com/site/egjband/contact-me
